The last word is not said in the MicShazam vs Windsock/Baez vs Priest saga!
But I'm at work so I can't type a full reply.

We could also just call it quits before someone gets hurt and accept that I'm undisputedly right.

Whatever you wanna do, pal. Honestly I think I lost the willingness to get into a long-form argument about this anyway, so if you do end up posting a wall of text I probably won't respond. There's only so many times you can rebuff someone's opinion.

...or you could just admit I'm right in this scenario and everything'll be squeaky clean.

Dismissing Baez as by the numbers is pretty short-sighted given that she played a big role in establishing those numbers. And Priest is corny so I'm with Mike here. I also haven't listened to either track.

Yes Priest are corny like most early metal bands were, but pretending like Baez (especially during the mid-70's) is some enigmatic musician free from the campiness of the era herself is itself short-sighted. Miles Davis doesn't get a pass on an album like You're Under Arrest just cause he pioneered the fusion genre.

Pretty sure I haven't said anything like that.

Just cause Baez popularized contemporary folk in the early 60's doesn't make her work from the 70's not by-the-numbers. Musicians rarely continue breaking the mold in some way with every album and they eventually fall into the pitfalls and stereotypes of the genre they may or may not have helped develop. Geddit?

*by her numbers

Just a bit ironic that you're defending Priest for performing the song in their style when that's exactly what Baez is doing.
