I think Stone Temple Pilots are from San Diego, can't think of any others I like from there.

Rocket from the Crypt and Kill Me Tomorrow are the ones that spring immediately to mind for me. Both great.

I always thought STP were from LA, but early on in their career they focused on play in San Diego a lot though because the LA music scene was so huge and formidable.

The OP has spam written all over it, but since others have bitten, I'll bite:

Pinback
Three Mile Pilot
Other Men
No Knife
Drive Like Jehu
Sleeping People

There are more I like but those are my favorites.

This sounds like a Maps & Atlases and June of 44 rip-off.

I'd love to see your signature/links too, but the huge and obnoxious ones have caused me to block all signatures.

No, I'm fairly certain sure they're from San Diego, though you're definitely welcome to try to prove me wrong.

RYM says Long Beach. AllMusic.com says Los Angeles. Wiki says San Diego. It's funny that they were so associated with the grunge scene that many people thought they were from Seattle, myself included. I don't think I thought they were originally from there (here), but that they had relocated there early in their career. No evidence points to that though. How strange.

I don't understand this thread. Isn't San Diego a tad bit of an overly specific location?
