While 2010 has indeed been great with lots of anticipated releases, I thought 2009 had some really solid releases too. Not weak at all IMO.

I'd love to see your signature/links too, but the huge and obnoxious ones have caused me to block all signatures.

Jonsi's Go was good, but top heavy. Some tracks left me completely in awe (Tornado and Kolindur, or however you spell it) and others I just skip over.
Hey, it's Dac! Nice to see you homes.

Yeah, I agree; both years were great. I think 2009 may even have been a bit better than '10.

Sorry to break it to ya guys, but lots of albums in a variety of genres came out in both 2009 and 2010 than just whatever Pitchfork decides to endorse in the Indie-pop, folk, hip-hop and the occasional metal album categories. It's silly to say one year is weaker than another when you don't know half of what was released in any given annual.

On a more positive note, I don't think there's been a bad year for classical, ambient, jazz nor prog. since the turn of the century.

Well I think the reason I like 10 better than 09 is because I was more engrossed in various music scenes so I could get the albums AS they came out, which I didn't do last year. This year I also began to like Metal music, so the various Metal albums have also excited me this year.

Just read through the entire topic again and listened to everything that was posted here.
Already found some stuff I didn't have yet that I probably should consider

Erland & the Carnival
The Tallest Man on Earth - The Wild Hunt (already knew them, but didn't know they had a release this year)
Hypnos 69
The Sadies - Darker Circles (don't care about the other albums so far)
Paul Baribeau

Thanks so far.
Keep them coming

I'm actually listening my way through everything released in 2010 that sounds remotely interesting to me. I've only made it to February, but I've only been doing this for a couple of months.

I'm doing this too, I've listened to about 25 releases from this year so far. I've found many good albums but sadly, nothing has blown me away. Even the new Swans was only merely decent. Still, I've got plenty more on my list so I'll report back in a few days
