Like I said, lets create our own list of top 20 guitarists. Create a number system based on weighted grades of Technical Skill, innovation, live performances, songwriting, and possibly sales. Of course, we would choose different numbers for each category depending on their importance. I think this would be a great way of doing this (instead of complaining about how biased Rolling Stone is).

My favorite guitarist is Hendrix, but I want this list to be established by the musicbanter community, not myself. I won't let myself fall victim to bias (or at least as unbiased as humanly possible).

definitely agree Rory Gallagher should be in there, although I'm biased since he's from my hometown.

He was the first inductee into the Guitar World Hall of Fame. Reader poll, readers votes, any guitarist living or dead and Kirk won. That isn't my opinion, or the ****heads at RS saying that, its the players and readers of a magazine devoted to playing guitar.

I understand you would prefer it if more math-metal guys made it in, but thats not what the list was.

In just metal you wouldn't put him as high as 11 but of ALL TIME you would? That doesn't make sense. Word of advice: If the majority of people agree on something, be suspicious of it. The masses are rarely correct on matters that require subjectivity. On several top ten Metallica songs lists, they have Enter Sandman, Sad but True, Unforgiven II, and even The Day that Never Comes. That's quite pathetic. I don't listen to math metal btw.

How doesn't that make sense? For a singular genre thats mutated at least 3 times since his heyday he probably wouldn't be in the top 11.

Where are these lists? Unforgiven II? Was the list compiled when Reload came out?

I'm sorry, but hands down the funniest thing I've read all day. If anything, these supposed 'masses' are GREAT with subjectivity; most people listening to music don't care about its objective greatness. They'd much rather formulate a subjective opinion that goes something along the lines of "I really like this because it sounds good to me."

@TheBig3KilledMyRainDog: Of all time means in all genres, so if you put a guitarist in #11 for that list then you can't put that same guitarist in a lower spot than that for a list of only one genre. Get it? Because the guitarists ahead of him in the single genre list would deserve the #11 spot on the "Of all time" list more. The lists are online just google that ****. Since they're online they are available to more people.
