Default Who Influenced You Most?

I thought it would be interesting to see who has benefited from which music banter members in regards to be introduced to new/different music to widen their realm of musical tastes?

I have to say, the one member that has been so motivating and actually is interested in my tastes is Jackhammer. He has introduced me to some amazing electronica, dub, drum n bass and more. I have a feeling I'm not the only one he's helped expand the horizon's of.

P.s. he likes Fat Freddy's Drop which = sex on toast.

Interesting question, Vanilla!

Sidewinder - introduced me to dubstep through his posts...and also to one of my favorite songs..."Fine Objects" by Eskamon. I'll post it below, just in case someone hasn't heard it yet! I had no idea before MusicBanter that I'm a dubstep person.

CanwllCorfe - also shared fine dubstep songs with me via posts.

Urban Hatemonger - I've learned about quite a few songs I like and musicians I'd never heard of before through Urban's last.fm account. So, he didn't intend to influence me musically, but he has. Two examples of such bands are T.Rex and Polvo. Also, I'd never heard any music by The Damned before checking out bands Urban was listening to. While listening to more of their music on my own I discovered their cover of "Alone Again Or," which I love.

Unchained Ballad - for a while down in the shoutbox whenever we met I'd ask him for music suggestions, and he'd share songs he likes that I'd never heard of before...so he helped broaden my music horizons.

Eskamon - "Fine Objects"

Polvo - "Time isn't on my side"

The Damned - "Alone Again Or"

A lot of members that I enjoyed getting recommendations off don't post anymore but I have picked up a few pointers from many on here from Urban, Janszoon, Sidewinder, Loathsome Pete, Freebase Dali, Lateralus, Vanilla, NSW whilst there are many members on here who have been here for a while and I still haven't got a clue what they listen to.

Interesting, as I'm not even really all that into Dubstep - I find too much of it cliched. I do however listen to a ton of other electronic music. But I do remember discussing that song with you, and I really love it as well. I've been an Amon Tobin fan a long time so that's how I learned of this collaboration.

It's also interesting that I'm a big fan of T. Rex and Polvo as well, and The Damned somewhat.

Many people here have influenced me, it would be hard for me to say exactly who at this point. I'd be afraid to leave anyone out, but let's just say everyone who's been around steadily since I joined that I've gotten into some sort of discussion with - has influenced me. So thank you very much guys and gals.

I'd love to see your signature/links too, but the huge and obnoxious ones have caused me to block all signatures.

I don't think anyone in particular did. Being in a community based around music just made me want to broaden my horizons. And I just got more and more bothered by the fact that I never seemed to leave the electronic section. Now I don't even know what I hell I listen to anymore.

Very true, what you said in bold. For example, you probably didn't realize our conversation about Eskamon would lead me to one of my favorite songs and inspire me to explore one genre a little bit more. (I haven't found *many* dubstep songs that I like, but some...and the songs you shared made me more interested in electronica as a whole.)

Yeay for T. Rex and Polvo and somewhat for the Damned!
