Most famous songs of all time
I'm looking for a list of the most famous songs of all time (or any genre). Not necessarily the best songs ever written- maybe not even very good; it could even be a song that everybody hates. People don't have to know the words, don't even have to know who sang/sings it, or the name of it. I just want you to suggest songs that everybody recognises, no matter how old they or even if they listen to music at all.

How about looking up some kind of "100 best songs of all time" list on the internet, I'm sure there are hundreds already compiled for you, that will undoubtedly contain the "most famous" songs you seek.

I've done that already. The problem is they're often compiled by just one person, which kind of defeats the point. They're also often restricted to a certain genre of music. And also, "best songs of all time" or "greatest songs of all time" isn't what I'm looking for. I want famous songs, regardless of whether or not they're "good". I've been searching for quite a while and have come across nothing that fits my needs- that's why I'm here.

What is 'Famous'? It's the same as popular surely which will be any top 100 general borefests you can find anywhere on the net.
Maybe try using the search term Iconic instead of famous which may yield a better bunch of songs.
