That was.. surprisingly good. The beat is great and her hooks are ok though some are annoying like that ratatat hook. The Queen Kwong track was way better AND she's cuter than Ke$ha.

Great stuff.
I'm a fan of Nels Cline, but never heard about this collaboration. Gonna have to check out the album.
Idk if i would call myself a fan yet, im just getting into that kinda music. It used to sound too progressive to me but lately im developing a taste for it.

You're god damn right. Batty likes Kesha a lot. I like Queen Kwong a lot. Batty thinks Queen Kwong is plain. I think Queen Kwong is the opposite of Kesha; interesting, fun, raw, gritty. More my style. I've liked Kesha songs but Queen Kwong is just so much better to me. Check out another song Batty. Try the song Purrfiction or Cold Daggers.

First of all, Black Francis is a wussy indie dweeb, so it's not surprising that he'd prefer some chick trying to sound like wussy indie dweeb rock.

And secondly, why on earth are we even comparing the two artists? As far as I can tell they sound absolutely nothing alike.

You're just introduced to Queen Kwong so I think you should become more familiar with what she's about. I spot wanna-be's as quick as you Batty, maybe quicker and Queen Kwong isn't attempting to be anything. I heard her music, heard the huge potential in it, bought Get A Witness and my suspicions of her genuine talent confirmed with a great LP. But I think you and I just see it too differently and that's ok.

I've always said Kesha isn't original and just borrows too much of her attitude and look from who influenced her, it's even in how her music sounds. But like I said. I do like some of her music. Even if it is too try hard and look at me I'm trying to be edgy. Just isn't interesting to me.

4/10

Idk that group and they probably have better songs but that particular song did very little for me. I found the pace and ambience of the song very bland, the song gets a little bit better when the heavy guitars come in but the vocals still sound like bland enlightened hums. It sounds like a bad metal band is playing at a monastery.

First of all, lol

And secondly, Ke$ha should do a collab with Head.

A little from column A, and a little from column B.

I get the feeling that I need to be in a red convertible driving through stretches of California roadways while listening to that song. <<--- I wrote that before I focused on the name of the song, "Nightmare at the Drag." Overall, it doesn't break any new ground to my ears, and it's probably been done better. 3/10.

The Silver Comet - "Lose Your Mind"

Spoiler for extra info:
These guys used to have a really cool video to this song. The music video was a collab they did with one of their friends. It seems like their label has stupidly removed it.

Video don't work at least for me and I cannot find an alternative on its own, found like a dude playing each part and then talking about it...that doesn't help me hear the song, so I shall throw this up incase its the same for everyone else.

I found this song when I was in the middle of doing my college video project and my friend made up his own parts into my video going "Oh I want this track for when I am on screen." then played that to me....I could not argue,

Dude, thanks for posting this. I tried getting some more info on this band by checking a lot of The Silver Comet's social-media links, but many of them no longer work. That's never a good sign, so I have no idea if they're still together. But thank you for informing me that before all that went poof, you were able to see a music video for this song that had a guy getting chased out of his car by what later turned out to be a shadow of himself, and that of his bandmates. The video finished with the band playing on a rooftop.

Thank you for also informing me that the band's lead singer tried out for American Idol, at least from what you can remember they had written about themselves. Normally, that may not go over for me, but I like the band's spirit and energy in "Lose Your Mind." It's very melodic too, although perhaps a little overly so if I'm being honest. I dig the part where it pauses for a few seconds in the beginning, and I also like the bridge in the third half. That was unexpected. Both of those additions help keep the song from falling into the verse/chorus/verse pattern.

If I had to take off points, it's because I feel that it could have gone even harder than it does. Still, a nice effort from a band comprised of friends whose stated goal was to re-infuse rock music with some soul.

7/10.

---

Not gonna post a video. TheLhix's selection is up next.

Interesting. It sounds like they were going for an early-20th century sound, and this is evident by what I'm hearing to be simulated radio static. The addition of electronic sounds works well with the instruments, and the vocals are crisp and clear; the vocalist has singing ability. This could have easily come across as dated, but the band is able to avoid that. The one downside is that it meanders in places, IMO, and I feel like they didn't have to do that with what they had.

7.5/10.

Trying this again since it was skipped/not reviewed. Russian singer Eduard Anatolyevich Khil's "I Am Glad, 'Cause I'm Finally Returning Back Home" would remain in relative obscurity until it was popularized as an Internet meme in the early 2010s. Read more: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eduard_Khil
