New End Original - Lukewarm

Definitely a pretty fun song. Vocals extremely easy on the ears. I always liked you tastes bob. and I did enjoy the song :) 7.3/10

Charlemagne 12-21-2010 01:55 PM

I like Bear In Heaven, I usually am not the biggest fan of their style, but Beast Rest Fourth Mouth is a very solid album. 8/10

Kaimon 12-22-2010 01:37 AM

Nice and short. Wasn't incredibly interested in it, but it was a good listen. 6.5/10

Badlittlekitten 12-22-2010 05:10 AM

^ 0/10 Bit too avant garde for my tastes. I like my weird shit but, a second of silence backed with a video of the words "Embedding disabled by request" that seemingly goes on forever, has left me bewildered, no matter how hard I stroke my chin.

7/10 - It would score higher, I really enjoyed the song, but I can't stomach the vocals.

God dammit it's your fault if your tastes just aren't as strange and incomprehensible as mine.

(You know you can just click it twice and you'll be able to view it on youtube.)

10/10. I loved that. The vocals were brilliant, I loved the hook, I dunno. It just clicked with me really well. Thank you.

100%....Cows are practically perfect in every way

and so are God Bullies

PRETTY ON THE INSIDE

Insane Guest 12-24-2010 12:34 PM

Umm...0/10...I dont know what to think of this to be honest. I thought it would just be the intro of that style, but no it kept going, I made it through 4 minutes of it, extremely boring, what the hell is this, what was that, that sucked.

Antonio 12-24-2010 12:41 PM

I really like Coheed and this is some classic stuff from them. As a live song, not too bad, the crowd singing is a nice touch, 7/10

Kanye West-Last Call

s_k 12-24-2010 01:09 PM

2/10.
I don't know what it is that people here like about Kanye West.
In any other place I would understand, but here?
This is just the same as any other R&B/Hiphop out there, for me.
Not my style, but even if I try very hard I don't see what's the point of Kanye. Sorry :)

And now for something completely different:

well, if I may elaborate then, the thing with Kanye is that he came out with this style of music when hip hop was all about the gangster and thug image of the late 90s-early 00s and with The College Dropout, he brought more of this vibe to the mainstream. There was R&B and rap at the time, but the way that Kanye did it combined the the soul aspect of R&B and the lyrical prowess of hip hop.

and yeah, you can say that there's a large amount of this style present, but Kanye was one of the first in terms of mainstream hip hop to do this, so that may be where some of the appreciation may come from. that and his use of sampling and abilities as a producer.

oh yeah, and the next poster can skip this post seeing as there's no song posted anyway, hehe.

Aside: I think Sleigh Bell's Treats wins the award for Most Times Appeared in this Thread with three songs from the album posted...

Charlemagne 12-24-2010 03:11 PM

I'm not really a fan of Flobots, I kind of liked Handlebars when it first came out...but this is just not my sound. 3/10

One of my favorite, if not my favorite Christmas song of all time, Merry Christmas MB!

DoctorSoft 12-24-2010 03:15 PM

Ehh, It's okay, not a big Sufjan fan. I found i got better as it wen along. Not a bad song, but I probably wouldn't listen to it again. 5/10

I find this quite offensive actually, a lot of people on this forum love Kanye, including me. I don't think it's fair to judge status as music lovers just because we like an artist you don't. Seems quite elitist to me.

Your on a music site, in case you haven't noticed, Kanye is pretty popular everywhere, not just "here"

s_k 12-24-2010 05:17 PM

I mean I just don't hear the difference between Kanye and the other R&B/Hip-hop 'crap' that's on the radio nowadays.
I don't like the style anyway, I'm just trying to understand what's different about Kanye, as I don't hear it. Hoped someone could explain it to me. And that happened. So please move on ;).

Insane Guest 12-24-2010 05:55 PM

Well the "crap" might be crap to YOUR ears, but it might be considered great music by another person.

Haven't you ever heard the expression: "One man's junk is another man's treasure"?
It can apply here too. I could say the things you like are complete crap, but there is something that you obviously like about them that I don't hear.
It's kind of ignorant that you would generalize all the Other R&B/Hip Hop crap, when you most likely haven't heard all of it. If that Music you call crap was indeed crap, it wouldn't be popular today now would it?

If you really want to hear the difference, use something called your ears.

TheFolkSlave I loved that song, I downloaded the album as I was listening to it. It was so smooth and so calming, a great voice too. 10/10

sleepy jack 12-24-2010 10:22 PM

Eh, I've heard a lot of artists doing the exact same thing, some doing it better. I mean it's not bad but I wouldn't listen to it ever again. 4/10

Well for one you're now putting words in his/her mouth. He/she is not saying all r&b/hip hop is crap, he/she is saying all the stuff on the radio is, which is a pretty fair statement to make because mainstream music of any kind (be it rock or rap) is garbage, with very few exceptions.

There's also a connotative meaning that I think you're ignoring just to be argumentative, when people refer to radio hip hop/r&b they're typically referring specifically to crap like 50 cent and all that stuff that is commonly viewed as garbage by people on music message boards, even though artists like Outkast are mainstream they're typically exempt because again, there exceptions to the rule and not what one thinks of when they think of mainstream hip hop/r&b.

You say I'm putting words in his mouth, yet you make his argument for him, not knowing what he meant by it, just assume it. He could be talking about anyone, and made a pretty broad statement by saying that other crap like Kanye sounds the same, that could be referring to anyone, not just stuff that gets radio play. I'm just saying it was stupid statement to make in a music forum, where there is guaranteed to be some Hip Hop/R&B fans, especially acting surprised.
"There are Kanye West fans on a music forum in 2010? I'm shocked"

Song Review

Pretty heavy ****! It takes a while to get into, but it's not of the best quality. (not sure if it's intentional) I will be looking for more of their work. 8/10

How am I putting words in his mouth? He clearly stated here:

Seems to me that him saying "on the radio" means it is just the stuff that gets radio play, but maybe I'm putting words in his mouth in assuming that by radio they meant what is commonly thought of as a radio. I don't know man I thought the argument and statements they were making were easy to understand. I guess I don't have your linguistic and psychological knowledge of shit that's posted on the internet though so I'm probably full of shit.

Insane Guest 12-24-2010 10:58 PM

He could just be assuming that all "crap" that is on the radio is Hip Hop/R&B, not even knowing what actually plays on it, just for making a statement against the music.
But whatever, **** it, it just always entertains me to argue with s_k.

sleepy jack 12-24-2010 11:00 PM

I think he's pretty explicitly referring to the hip hop/r&b which is played on the radio, not assuming that everything played on the radio is hip hop/r&b. You got all pissed at me for 'assuming' and now you're doing the same thing. I don't know why it would surprise you that someone's heard 50 Cent before though.

Insane Guest 12-24-2010 11:06 PM

It doesn't surprise me, and I know that I am making assumptions, but for all I know, he could be talking about Dutch Radio, I just wanted to get his thoughts.

sleepy jack 12-24-2010 11:12 PM

You know Western music isn't just popular in the United States and United Kingdom right?

Insane Guest 12-24-2010 11:20 PM

...And none of those artists have fans that respect them and/or have threads on this site?
Ok, well I made an assumption and dragged this a lot more than it needed it to be, I'll shut up now. I see what you mean though, but still think his statement was with with some ignorance behind it.

DoctorSoft 12-25-2010 01:33 AM

@xEMGx Not my thing at all 2/10.

downwardspiral 12-25-2010 02:02 AM

Pretty good, only for the fact I don't listen to much electro anymore I would have probably enjoyed it a bit more, it just sounded a bit samey to me and didn't really seem to progress throughout. I thought at some point there was gonna be some big meaty drop but it didn't happen. I'll say 5/5 for this one.

YouTube - Helmet & House Of Pain - Just Another Victim

Amazing song. Even if you aren't feeling the song at the beginning, listen to it all anyway because the rap which comes in around halfway is immense.

Really like it, the beat just crawls into your head and stays there. Don't like her voice much but. 7/10

Abba time, f*ck the haters.

sleepy jack 12-26-2010 03:35 PM

10/10 for the hair. I like Dancing Queen, so I didn't come in this totally ready to hate ABBA. The beginning instrument reminded me of Congraulations by MGMT, just the first few notes though. It's a pretty catchy song. 6.5/10

Now for one of my top songs of the year:

TheFolkslave 12-26-2010 05:35 PM

I like the song. Im not really a fan of Chrystal Castles that much but this song is lovely. Sad and all that stuff. Listened to it alot few weeks ago when I broke up with my gf. 9/10

dankrsta 12-26-2010 05:49 PM

^That was strangely addictive and I'm not sure why, especially since his 'rambling' is pretty straightforward and doesn't change much, at least that's how it sounds on the first listen. But I like it and I don't know why 7,5/10

I've been reminded of Popol Vuh today, so here's a piece of Nosferatu soundtrack
Popol Vuh - 'On the Way'

YouTube - nosferatu-herzog opening credits. (1979) (in the film context)

bob. 12-27-2010 05:21 PM

10/10....wow....why have i never searched out this soundtrack....i would say a quarter of my catalogue rips this off

Ain't That A Kick In The Head - Dean Martin

i just watch Ocean's 11 (the original) and this is by far one of the best parts of a great movie....check out the crazy xylophone solo!

khfreek 12-27-2010 09:24 PM

7/10, fun lyrics and accompaniment but it didn't really stand out to me.

First off, pretty awesome video dude. Loved the instrumentals, vocals. Very good track in my book, definitely will be looking more into these guys. Wow. 9/10. Thanks for this one.
