Godflesh are one of my favourite artists ever, and Streetcleaner is a five star album from me. This isn't one one of their best songs though.

Can't really go wrong with that song...it's kind of lame now though, even if it is summery and happy. 7/10

Pharmacology the song????!!! OMG, YES!!!! Found it. I adore that song, it's absolutely incredible. And, yes, he absolutely does, doesn't he?! This song is definitely going to appear in this thread at some point, I think - it's far to good not to make you want to jump at people at say "Listen to this, it's awesome!". :) Now I really want to see them live - I just hope that I get to find out if they come near my way!

Reminded me of a heavier version of Arrah and the Ferns. I liked it, but not terribly. 6/10

DoctorSoft 12-13-2010 11:27 PM

^ 4/10, not really my thing. Not a fan of that girl's voice at all too.

ThePhanastasio 12-13-2010 11:30 PM

Crap - reviewed the wrong song!

Something about the voice levels being really low in the mix with repetitive instrumentals really didn't sit right with me (for the first 1:26 or so of the song.) When it starts to pick up, though, it becomes more interesting, but just repetitive in a different way for about 40 seconds. At about 3:30 in the song, I start to dig the sound of it more. (Probably because I can hear the vocals better, at least partially) It's not a bad song, but melodically it is kind of repetitive. 6/10

DoctorSoft 12-13-2010 11:32 PM

Charlemagne 12-14-2010 11:14 AM

Edit: Crap too late.

I know that Minutemen is pretty much loved by music fans all over, but I've never listened to them before. I didn't really like this song, the instrumentation was repetitive and I didn't really understand the vocal style, it just didn't work for me. 3/10

Minutemen are one of the few admired Punk band that I do NOT get. I can appreciate the basslines, and Political Song For Micheal Jackson To Sing and Corona are pleasant songs. But everything on the album feels likean intro, like it could've gone much further and been a great song but the way it is it's merely decent.
6/10

LOVED the music, not sure about the lyrics and/or the voice, though. It would make a fantastic instrumental. The music's got a very cinematographic feel to it.

Charlemagne 12-14-2010 02:30 PM

I'm sorry but I couldn't even get through that. It's just not my style, I didn't like the vocals and the background instrumentals irritated me. 2/10

2/10 i did not like it

now for weird techno pop music:

Purple 12-14-2010 04:27 PM

I liked the beat well enough but wasn't crazy for the vocals. Intentional or not, I thought they were pretty overwhelmed and dragged too much. It almost works, though. 5/10

Insane Guest 12-14-2010 05:14 PM

Umm, no thanks, it's not for me. 1/10

It's my favourite of 2009, an amazing album. Try listening to it more, maybe it'll grow on you, I had to listen to it a few times before it really clicked.

DoctorSoft 12-14-2010 06:16 PM

^^ Love nearly everything about it, I'm an Aphex Twin fan(new fan though), and this is now one of my favourite songs by him. 1:36 is amazing. 10/10

khfreek 12-15-2010 10:36 AM

Very nice, lost me about the last minute or so though. 8/10

bob. 12-15-2010 04:11 PM

^6/10....not exactly my thing...but i have to admit i liked it...actually i listened to a couple more of their songs....i think my only problem with it is his vocals....but they are something i could get into

Celan - Sinking

10/10 Absolutely awesome (well, I'm always a sucker for anihilating bass lines...)

Is all the rest of their stuff that good?

I defy anybody not to dance to this ... if only for a loose definition of "dance". :-)

TheFolkslave 12-16-2010 02:27 PM

^ Im sorry but I didn't like the song at all :/ it kinda annoyed me alot. It didn't really have anything for me to grab on to. Maybe it's just not my thing. 2/10

storymilo 12-16-2010 07:17 PM

It wasn't a bad song, but it's not something I can see myself seeking out in the future. A 6/10 for now.

Closure in Moscow! I got all excited when I saw you posted this because they're from my town, and I clicked the YouTube video to watch it, but then it said "This video is not available in your country." Ha.

Anyway, did you and I have a conversation about this band not that long ago? My memory fails me.

I love this song, Cole Porter is wonderful and this reminds me of being home, which makes me happy. 8/10

Yes, you told me you saw them live a few years ago and didn't remember liking them, and I told you that it was probably because they were in high school! Get their album already :P

Sljslj 12-17-2010 10:46 PM

That was cool, bro. Not really my style, but still pretty great. 6.5/10

bob. 12-18-2010 10:54 AM

^wow...8/10...that was actually really good...i know that Devin Townsend is in many ways a hero in the metal world but i had just never really listened to him....although i would need to be in the mood for this i certainly think i should grab a couple of his albums.....suggestions?

The Murder City Devils - 18 Wheels

*the song starts at 40 seconds...after this guy talks for a few....this was the only recorded version i could find....and although this band is great to experience live....not so good to listen to live....turn it up!

I would start with Infinity or Ocean Machine: Biomech.

I loved that. It would have been a pretty good song without the keyboard but that just made it great. Good lyrics too.

Queen Boo 12-20-2010 08:50 PM

That kind of sounds like 3 or 4 songs mashed up into one. The sample sounded out of place and the tempo never picked up when I felt like it should have. I liked it though. 7/10.

Queen Boo 12-20-2010 09:56 PM

Nobody likes Hole. :(

I love Hole, this is a good song of theirs but I always disliked the overall sound on their first album. Live Through This is far better.

bob. 12-21-2010 10:57 AM

9/10...at first i was not sure....but by the end of the song i was mesmerized...i feel like that album would be really good for repetitive exercise like running or cycling...that song just really put me in a zone
