Found it in the case for another album, which is amusing, because I didn't have any intention of bringing it or its counterpart out here with me when I moved... three years ago now.

Glad I did though. Good surprise. I have no idea if the second disc found its way into my stuff though. I suppose it's possible...

Gotta get to that second disc man. Thru the eyes of ruby and by starlight are NOT songs to be missed.

Rod Stewart - The Great American Songbook: It Had To Be You
I like feeling all nostalgic when I drive. It feels like everything I pass up is a park full of young lovers.

I make themed mix tapes for my car.

CDs 1/2: Wake Up (Rock, Metal, Hardcore)
CDs 3/4: Calm Down (Alternative, Soft Rock, Pop)
CDs 5/6: Everything (anything I feel like listening to)

It's fun to make new ones every 6 months or whatever

Right now, the CD I've been listening to while driving is a Mix CD entitled, "This...Is...Nostalgia!!!" with an image of Gerard Butler in 300 on the cover. It contains songs I've listened to in the car with friends over the past six years or so, and definitely recalls some great times. There is, naturally a bit of cheese on the mix (Case in point: Joey Scarbury's "Believe It Or Not", the theme from The Greatest American Hero) but it's probably the best "feel-good" mix I've had in my car for ages.

When I'm at home, I prefer listening to full albums, but most of the places I drive, the best I can do is get in three or four songs before reaching my destination.

I burned my Beginner's Guide to Opeth for my car this week. Sadly I had to remove their cover of the AiC song "Would?" because I was over the 80 minute limit by 1 minute and 6 seconds.

Car stereos aren't particularly expensive and most new ones have USB slots. 20 bucks you can get a 16 gig flash drive on Amazon, and I find you can often hold 200+ albums of songs(unless you're one of those audiophile Nazi folk who needs everything in FLAC, even then you could probably hold at least 150 I'm guessing. Then again, I don't think many will play FLAC but eh...).

That's what I used to do before I misplaced my flash drive.

There are many other things that are far more important in the grand scheme of things when it comes to my car. Besides an upgraded stereo, I need to replace one of the speakers because I blew it out by playing Kyuss with the bass cranked while driving through the Mojave desert. I usually use my 120 gb Zune to play my music, but the volume of the Zune and the volume of the stereo need to be tweaked just right to minimize the distortion from the damaged speaker. However if I use straight CD's, I can listen to my CD's without any feedback or distortion. Besides I've been loving the fuck out of making mixes lately, so creating ones for me to listen to in the car is an enjoyable pastime.
