Meeting pop stars online
I've met a few stars on line and had a few brief bit's of conversation with them. Or at least they've replied to a post.
The most recent just now is Andy Partridge from XTC. I posted that there was a book about the band on Amazon selling for £175 and wondered if anyone could say why it was so expensive. He just posted. 'It's ****, I read it.' A few months ago on Talking heads fan site. I said I liked the song ONce in a lifetime esp. Eno's keyboards and Chris Frantz responded 'The keyboards on "Once In A lifetime" are played by Jerry, not Eno. Who told you otherwise?' |
Bobby Calabrese, the guitarist for the Horror Punk band, Calabrese talked to me about the show "Dexter" on facebook just the other day. He's not a "pop star", but he sure is popular amongst the Horror Punk fans.

I've conversed with American Idol contestant Didi Benami online before, and she's tweeted me quite a few times.
Also, Amanda Palmer from The Dresden Dolls, who's really nice - and her boyfriend, writer Neil Gaiman tweeted me once. I tweeted him to embrace the tambourine as his calling in life, and he tweeted me with, "Alas, the glory I would garner as a tambourinist would distract me from my true path." Dave Wyndorf, the lead singer from Monster Magnet used to be really active on his forum back in the day, and I was also active, so he and I talked quite a lot on there, about any number of things really. My main thrill was a 3 month internet correspondence with Brian May from Queen. He responded to a lot of my letters in his "soapbox", and actually emailed me for a little while. Probably the most exciting time of my life. |

Anyway, I saw Zach and Cody from that Disney Channel show while I was skiing. They're not popstars, but I guess that's the closest I've ever come to any celebrity-entertainer-type. |
I've spoken with Melissa Auf Der Maur on Twitter a couple of times recently. I also have Alice Glass on MSN.. LOL.

Someone from God Is An Astronaut answered one of my questions on their Facebook. I was asking/telling them to come to the United States and they responded: "We will be in the States in the coming months, please be patient." I was stoked.
Another time, Rosi Golan made a status update asking all the ladies what kind of snacks they had at sleepovers. I made a joke and she addressed me and said I made her lol. I actually met her a couple of weeks prior. Those are my stories of online communications with artists. |
I spent the night at Michael Jackson's house once as a kid, that was a lot of fun.
