For the record, At the Drive in. At the Drive in are terrible and bands that want to be At the Drive in are terrible.

EDIT: And for crying out loud ATDI is NOT emo!

I`d blame it all on the likes of Kiss, Aerosmith, Van Halen and the New York Dolls. Motley Crue were just the most important band of the movement, and probably the best out of a bad bunch.

Definitely Nirvana. I like them a lot, but I'm not much of a grunge fan other than a few of the bands that actually made their own music instead of trying to copy Nirvana. And worse, if it weren't for Nirvana, there'd be none of this post grunge crap I hear every time I try to find good alternative stuff on the radio.

To be fair, Pearl Jam probably had quite a deal to do with it too.

if it weren't for Nirvana you wouldn't even have the option to try finding 'good' alternative stuff on the radio.

Metallica

The thrash movement helped create a few genres that followed that were influenced by there style such as Grindcore, Nu Metal and Metalcore all dispicable genres. I blame the thrash movement for this, in particular Metallica.
