I'm not saying they weren't culturally relevant at some point, but in my opinion, their sounds weren't THAT goddamn out there.

Velvet Underground was okay, and they were definitely a catalyst for something bigger, but like Jethro Tull, I have to think that they're not the gods and prophets people say.

Cradle of Filth... unfortunately. Dani Filth's vocal style has now become one of the major defining characteristics for a lot of newer black metal bands. It's just a shame a lot of shitty bands are being influenced by an equally shitty band.

Also, Other: U2. Arcade Fire et al turned their benign sound into an even blander indie sensation around the world. Who knew?

Im a huge tull fan, but since when has anyone every called Jethro Tull "gods" or "prophets" of prog?
