Ah, a song about dreams that don't die even when relationships and people do. So true! I'd never heard this song before. Or heard of the singer.
Well, here's a super-famous song that doesn't make me cry now (*usually*), but I recall a night in my 20s when I realized I'd never be with someone I had hoped to, and I was just sobbing throughout the whole song. Sigh...sometimes it is hard to let go of the dream, isn't it, ribbons? I'll post the youtube just in case someone even less knowledgeable about music than I is scrolling through and wonders, "John Denver, who's that?" John Denver - Annie's Song: And here he is singing it live...and dead.

It may seem cheesy, with the hype surrounding the song after its inclusion in the film Garden State (which I was kind of oblivious to, actually, despite already knowing the band/album), but I find this song absolutely beautiful and it makes me tear up a little. They are kind of joyful tears though, it's hard to explain. It's just really touching. It kind of cuts to the core of what I am and how I feel on the inside.
The Shins - "New Slang" (I'm purposely avoiding posting a video that has footage from the movie, because my love of the song and the emotions it creates have nothing to do with the movie).

Which I've never done...but the song gives me that open-air, convertible feeling! Here's a song I heard for the first time recently and was surprised to find it made me cry: Gaubert - Music for Flute and Piano

I heard Marie by Townes Van Zandt the other day and almost killed myself.

^Its funny you should mention Townes. As soon as I read this thread I thought about this song,
I wouldn't say I actually sit down and shed tears, but these songs give me chills and my eyes become watery. This song and artist might be over hyped, but if this doesn't touch you then you better make sure you're still breathing.

As much as we're talking about Townes Van Zandt, this is gorgeous:

"Here Comes a Regular" by The Replacements made me almost tear up recently.
Also I might have teared up to The Smiths or The Cure a couple years back, which in retrospect seems kinda cliched. But no song has actually made me cry. That would be taking stuff way too seriously.
