Default Who Is The Greatest Band From Manchester?

I think Manchester is steeped in musical history, and it has a load of great bands. From The Smiths, to the Stone Roses to Joy Division. Everybody who likes music has a favourite Manchester band. (I think.) So I was wondering who everyone thought was the best. (I expect this to be a two horse race but still.)

You don't have to choose from that list, there is an 'other' option. Who else do you think could be considered amongst the best that isn't already up there?

New order. It would be the Smiths but I don't buy into Mozzer's world view too much and don't wanna be reminded of how ****ty life is anymore. The tragi-com stuff like There is a light and Cemetry gates are sublime though. The only downsides with New Order is there comeback albums were pants and Barney's voice isn't too good but that's only a problem when he sings live. The major up points are Peter Hooks bass lines which are incredible and just the fact I love 90% of the songs they wrote in the 80's.

Buzz****s and Howard Devoto, I think they led the way for Northern punk and I believe they were the band who inspired others on the list(so legend has it)

I knew I was forgetting someone, I think it's because the Buzzcocks were from Bolton. (Greater Manchester) so I never consider them a true Manc-band, which is silly.
