I've just found out they were from Bolton, Steve Diggle and John Maher were both Mancunians though. All the Manchester lads I know always claim them as a Manc band but you learn something new everyday.

Yeah, I'd say they are a Manc band. Just because they formed in Bolton I don't consider them as a Manchester band for some reason. There should really be an option for The Buzzcocks on the poll.

The Fall

although they're probably my favourite band from this planet, so naturally they win this

Nope, they aren't popular.

They used to be one of my favourite bands when I first started listening to music, but they fall under the category of really bland boring average Indie-band. I just thought I'd stick 'em in the poll 'cause... well, why the f*ck not?

If they get one vote I'd be surprised.

I can't choose between The Smiths and Joy division

Although I'm leaning more towards Joy Division.

Simply Red ffs. It's so obvious.

Joy Division are pretty much nailed on but I'm a huge fan of Lamb, New Order and The Durutti Column too. Never heard of The Fall. Aren't they fronted by some ugly twat who can't sing?

That crank who lives on beer and sausages and is somehow kept alive by replacing blood with drink.

Not Gazza, the other one.
