If you post it, I will listen
I really know next to nothing about music. I want to learn, and I thought a really interesting way to begin would be to expose myself to as many different sounds as there are varied tastes in the world.
So, if you're willing to help me in my path to musical enlightenment, all I ask is that you post the name of a song (or piece, I suppose) that you really like, and I promise to listen to it from start to finish. Any genre, any artist. If possible I would appreciate a link to the song you post, but if you don't want to or can't find one readily I will do my best to find the song myself. Thank you. - Musical Mendicant |

heh. classic piece.
|
hopefully you can stomach it. |
i'll post some stuff that's relatively easy to get into
happy listening |
'Get Up and Jump' by the Red Hot Chili Peppers. The second song they ever wrote.
Perfectly sums my taste in music, and hopefully gives you a another unique perspective... |
I love how 4'33" is like some musical in-joke here, yet if you asked some random person if they've heard of 4'33" they'd think it's the time the next bus arrives.
anyways, here you go. |
These are pretty diverse I think. |

Regarding classical guitar, I've thought it would be a good idea to listen to the best composer ever, played by the best living performer:
Australian classical guitarist John Williams plays The Cathedral and The Last Chant, composed by Paraguayan Agustín Barrios (MB thread): |
^@ zevokes You just put a code after = in youtube tags and not the whole url
|
thanks dan!
|
And even simpler: only the codes (without the final &).

I don't see why "Bleed It Out" is made fun of alot here but then again why should I care? I like the song.
|
You want you mind blown? Of course you do.
Mind officially blown. |
|
For some reason, the videos (3 that I posted, 1 from Homan) on this page don't show up for me. Do they show up for anyone else? 'Cause I'd hate for the OP not to be able to view them.

You do this with the youtube link:

Thomas Leeb - No Woman No Cry (Bob Marley)
Awesome. |
|
Sljslj, that song you shared "Christeen" is pretty cool. It's like Billy Idol's "Shock to the System" except more melodic.
Anyways, (I'm not a fan of the anime aesthetic of that video but the other copy of the song on youtube has bad audio quality) |
