It usually sounds cheesy and overdone, in my opinion. With the Stripes maybe less so, but I'd still rather hear a banging guitar track out of them than a piano number...

I was a bit surprised when they announced their split....Good band, I really liked them, and Jack was great in the It Might Get Loud doc.

well first of all, sammy davis jr., maybe the issue is that you call it a "piano number."

And when you say banging, are you meaning "good" or something that's staccato? Piano is, for me, an overall more interesting instrument so I can't agree with you here.

More interesting than the guitar? Pardon, but I don't understand all your jargon, kid...

What jargon? Yes, more interesting than guitar. Also, I'm pretty sure I'm older than you are, sonny.

Guitar has just been beat to hell and co-opted by meatheads. I like it, I just never think to myself "oh they've used a guitar for that portion of the music...how intriguing."

Yeah, Elephant is great. I actually liked "Get Behind Me Satan," though alot didn't. What did you think of it?

De Stijl

and yeah, they are a live band for sure... I remember when i saw this when it aired... this version of "Death Letter" is amazing.

Still the better version is:

I am not a White Stripes fanatic, but I think they had a good run with "De Stijl", "White Blood Cells" and "Elephant"...

When talking of the garage rock revival of the time, The Strokes will remain my favorite of the times, but The White Stripes are great in their minimalism and fun to listen to from time to time.

Yeah, De Stijl is a good one. What did you think of GBMS?

Also, since you like the Strokes, what is your opinion on Elephant vs. Is This It?

I have never sat down and really paid attention to GBMS to really say... i would have to take a listen to it again to give you anything thought out.

As for second, I would take Is This It over Elephant, I can not really put it into words, just something I found more interesting about The Strokes.. That album with "The Modern Age" EP are just perfect to me... The Strokes never did anything that matched that album, still have to get around to the new one. They have been good for a while, but first album and EP were great.

Both are great albums, I would say are essential in their own regards.

That one would make a good albums wars one i think... and would be an interesting one to read.
