Actually, being from Connecticut, many people here enjoy our local talent. You'd be surprised at how many people attend local shows at The Webster Theater and other such places. I'll leave you with one example... Livintrust. myspace.com/livintrust05

I agree that in this day and age,if a band cant make it its because they dont have what it takes. Its relatively easy to get exposure with the internet, look at OK GO who became famous because of their videos, not because of their music.
So while i'm here, has anyone heard if the White Stripes are going to make up for the last tour they cancelled? I STILL havent seen them live yet!!

With the stripes I think that Jack likes the dissonant sound as an extension of the lyrics not as something abstract that adds to mystique. Also,, Jack likes to keep the general idea simple (topic wise) as well as the lyrics. They occasionally get poetic but there isn't ever an extended metaphor or anything terrible like that. Jack takes his queues from Willie Nelson and Hank Williams while most other garage rock bands take their queue from what sounds like Echo and the Bunnymen. (look at the name alone.) lol, if I didn't know any better I'd have thought Ethan set you up with a softball on that one. Either way, I'm going to the bunker. Its going to get ugly in here shortly.

I heard White Strips for the first time my junior year in high school which was four years ago!! I went to a dance performance and they danced to Seven Army Nation. I really really like that sing, it was a good dance piece
