That New White Stripes Single
I finally heard it today.
Dunno if it`s me missing something but I think it`s crap. They`re capable of so much better than that. I`ll still get the album though.

I don't know man, I can agree that he should have busted out more distortion but that song rocks. I'd say a little more than...what, 95% of the radio?
Everyone bitched about Hootie and the blowfish until we got broadsided with boybands. Don't forget how good we have it.

White Stripes- Get behind me satan.
only my first listen, but i cant help thinking critics who've given this album 5/5 stars are being slightly influenced by the stripes reputation. im a bit underwhelmed by it actually. theres not much of the searing guitars, pounding drums and pacy melodies- just a lot of piano, mandolin, tambourine and pretty vocals. i understand the need to develop and be diverse- but to me on this first listen- the stripes should stick to what made them the hottest property in rock.
overall- 2/3 out of 5. |
