I think MBV have many better songs than that one, although obviously it was quite something when they played it live and extended the noisy section in the middle to 20+ minutes... but Souvlaki Space Station is one of my favourite shoegaze songs. So yeah.

MBV 1
Slowdive 2

I do realise it's not the best MBV song in terms of quality, but it means a lot to me. Loveless is so overrated though, the MBV EPs are where it's at. Same with Slowdive too though I guess.

oh don't get me wrong, I like the song too. About Loveless, it's an album that was extremely important for me. I was obsessed with it when I was younger, I think I listened to it almost every day when I was in 3rd year of high school. I don't listen to it much now though, just some of the songs occasionally. I think if they'd taken the 4 best songs from Loveless and made an EP of those then it might've been my favourite EP ever.

As for Slowdive, I like their last album best. That's a pretty unpopular opinion among their fans, though.

I like their last album a lot too, I still think Souvlaki is the best album though. If you compiled their first 3/4 EPs and made it an album it would be the best. Blue Day is awesome too. What a fantastic mindblowing band. I think they're top 10 for me.

Isn't that kinda stating the obvious? I mean, if you take any great album and trimmed it down to its four best songs you're damn right it's gonna be a great EP...

That My Bloody Valentine song sounds more like Swervedriver than themselves.

I've heard some Slowdive but not this particular track. Upon listening, I really like it but still it can't compete with easily one of top 10 MBV songs.

My Bloody Valentine - 2
Slowdive - 5

in one way yes, but what I mean is that I think there's a real gap in quality between the best songs on the album and the rest of the songs. The best songs are f'ucking amazing, but the rest of it is just filler to me. Maybe it's because I've heard Loveless too many times, but I can't listen to it as a whole album now, it just gets boring for me. Hence why (these days, at least) I think it'd be a better EP.
