Maybe I need to pick more even pairings. I really enjoy both of these songs and the albums that they come from. Red Eyes would probably edge my vote because I didn't think The War On Drugs had it in them to create such a gorgeous song - it's melancholy in that masterful way that only some of my musical heroes can normally capture. Other than this song though, The War On Drugs aren't that great and I tend to prefer Kurt Vile as a whole.

I agree with you James, in that I usually find War on Drugs to be pretty bland but this song gets my vote for that awesome melancholy. They've been playing it a ton on college radio here. I'm not really a fan of Kurt Vile either though.

I love Red Eyes and I love that War on Drugs album, I think I'm definitely more partial to that melancholia/dream-like quality of their music, Kurt Vile is okay, but his solo stuff never sticks with me after I listen to it.

Missed the Built to Spill/Dinosaur Jr. battle but it looks like everyone voted correctly. Not sure about War On Drugs/Kurt Vile, that's definitely one of the weaker tracks on Kurt's latest album for me, and War On Drugs is not as strong in general, IMO. Either way looks like that's been decided.
