It's funny, Loser was stuck in my head before I opened this thread...

At any given moment, I might choose to listen to Harvey Danger's song over Beck's, but that's probably because I've heard Loser too many times and it was never a favorite. Nice and all, but it didn't make me buy Mellow Gold back in the day. That said, Loser is still a better song, even though I like Flagpole Sitta as well.

I actually find Flagpole Sitta to be a really underrated song. And although Beck is one of my favourite musicians and the first artist I ever bought an album from, Loser isn't one of his best.

Flagpole Sitta was recorded in the 90s? Really? It sounds so modern. I figured it was from the last 2 or 3 years.
Loser has less lazy lyrics and is just an all around better song though. Beck 5 Harvey 1

I'm intrigued by this idea that "Flagpole Sitta" somehow has lazier lyrics than "Loser". "Flagpole Sitta" actually has some pretty clever lyrics while "Loser" has nonsense lyrics that, if I recall correctly, Beck came up with on the spot.
