Hmm tough choice there! Re-listening to cast a vote.

Megadeth 1

Metallica 0

To me, this is a pretty simple choice.

Given that its more or less the same song and Mustaine the writer, I prefer the improved polished up Metallica version of it.

Metallica 2
Megadeth 1

I agree I kind of lean toward the more polished Metallica version, and I like varioius moods/segments it goes through, while Mechanics is more straight-forward.

I enjoyed the instrumentation to the Metallica version better. I look forward to hearing what you have to say, Jackhammer, after reading some background about these songs on wikipedia.

Metallica 3
Megadeth 1

Well... yea...

Metallica 4
Megadeth 1

I almost gave Megadeth that vote because Metallica basically stole it from Dave, but we're voting about the quality of songs here, not about fairness (or unfairness in this case).

Metallica's version is much more rounded and cohesive and is a classic in their repertoire however the much shorter Megadeth version is much more punchier and raw. It shows that Metallica with Burton really learnt about song structure and melody but at a pinch I will have to plump for Megadeth as I prefer the much more raw sound.

Metallica 4
Megadeth 2

^^ That's exactly the reason I voted for them as well, I love the raw sound that comes from Mechanix. Quintessential thrash.
