NC belongs to Superchunk.
Finally, a nomination (and it's a good one too)! Savage Republic - 'Exodus' (Tragic Figures 1982)
vs. Sun City Girls - 'Space Prophet Dogon' (Torch of the Mystics 1990)

A very good war this one.
I've only heard one Savage Republic album (Ceremonial + Trudge), and I have no idea why I still haven't checked another out because it's fantastic. This song here I've not heard, but I gave it a listen there and I dig it very much. The Sun City Girls song is one of my favourites by them, though, so I'm gonna vote for that one. Now to find some more Savage Republic albums! Savage Republic 0 Sun City Girls 1 |

Anyway, I still can't decide which one I love more. Savage Republic has been one of my favorites for a long time, especially this album and this song. On the other hand I just recently started listening to Sun City Girls. The fact that I can't decide just shows how deeply Sun City Girls have affected me. When I heard Torch of the Mystics, it reminded me immediately of the similar ethno flavour that Savage Republic often has.

this is a tough call... like choosing between Cancer and AIDS.
on one hand I don't even bother keeping a copy of Stairway when i rip LZ4. on the other i don't ever plan on owning anything by The Eagles. though Stairway has an actual rocking breakdown so that's their edge in my book. so i guess it's tied LZ - 1 eagles - 1 |
