#30. Kraftwerk: Autobahn
Let's face it, kiddies, without Kraftwerk your Lady Gagas and your Miley Cyruses would be folk musicians. Kraftwerk is reponsible for IDM, Electro, House, and a whole crapload of other genres. If you don't like Kraftwerk, that's okay. If you don't like Kraftwerk's influence on pretty much everything, you can go away now. #29: NEU! I seriously love this band. They're the Kraftwerk castaways that proved to be just as influential as the band they were kicked out of. The song Hallogallo is a true masterpiece. it's floaty, it has the signature motorik beat and it's the song that launched a revolution. Negativland is one of my all time favorite songs, with the construction site opener and the gloomy, straightforward bass. This is one of the bands that got me in to music. my only problem with this album is Lieber Honig because it has one of the most disturbing vocal performances ever. |

#28: AFX: Analogue Bubblebath EP 1
This is AFX's (Aphex Twin) First release. It's quite odd, but I like it. You've got the nervous sounds of En Trance To Exit (Feat Schizophrenia) blaring in your ears, you've got the deranged Isopropophlex with it's claustrophobic sounds surrounding you, teasing you, almost, and then there's AFX 2 (Feat Schizophrenia), the nightmare inducing techno track, a track that I don't recommend listening to before you sleep. The last 3 tracks on this EP are quite dark, but the first track (Analogue Bubblebath 1) is beautiful, it's like his later track Pulsewidth with a whale-song-esque synth line over top of it. It's amazing, and if you've never heard this song, I recommend getting your butt onto Youtube and looking it up. #27: Boards Of Canada: The Campfire Headphase Though it's not their best, it's still a great album. I mean, everybody hated it at the release, but come on! you can't blame the brothers for wanting to try something new. They've been doing the same thing for almost a decade at the time of release, you really think they're going to repeat MHTRTC? No. That's boring. Give the brothers some love. |

#26: Lightning Bolt: Earthly Delights
Oh, how I loathe the term "Noise Rock". That's what my uncle calls my more avant garde music. It sounds so derogatory. IT doesn't really describe it that well at all because all music is noise, just some strains of rock are noisier than others. that doesn't mean that it's bad, but a lot of people do associate noise rock with terrible music. lightning bolt's Earthly Delights is far from terrible. I was recommended this by a few MB members and I love it so far. I've listened to it a billion times, and it's so good ! The Drummer on this record is amazing, he's up there with Damon Che and Zach Hill. I am not a drummer, but I still respect him, Cuz he's nuts! My favorite song on the album is Nation Of Boar, because of how frantic and emotional the song is. Distortion to the max, bro! #25: Mogwai: Mr. Beast At first, i thought this album was Mogwai's weakest. It took me at least five listens to fully understand what this albums is about. In my opinion, this is a gloomy album, meant to be enjoyed on a cloudy, rainy, stormy day. Post rock is meant to be gloomy. One of my favourite songs on here is Team Handed and it is quite beautiful. it's very hard to explain, that song, though. you need to hear it to understand it. Friend of the night is another favourite from Mr. Beast, totally giving off that gloomy post-rock vibe. |
