#37: Aphex Twin: Richard D. James Album
sure is a scary guy, isn't he? but don't be fooled by that menacing grin, he makes great music. I'm sure a bunch of aphex fanboys are going to come here and be butthurt and go "Y IZNT RDJ UP HI-ER! U SUCK!" so I'm going to say something: MORE APHEX ALBUMS ARE GOING TO BE ON THE LIST, OKAY? (caps was needed for that statement.) now, lets talk about the music: this album is amazing. we've got the more abrasive side (Peek insert lots of numbers here, Carn Marth ect.) and the smoother side (Logon Rock Witch, Fingerbib) and both sides of the music are mind blowing. My personal favorite song on this is Logon Rock Witch because of the cartoon-y sounds and the synthesized (I assume) organ. I want this song to be played at my funeral, it would make people happier. RDJ makes everybody happier! #36: Boards Of Canada: Trans Canada Highway Sure, half of this EP is taken up by Dayvan Cowboy and it's remix, but the new material is where it's at. From what i'm hearing on this EP, THEY'RE GOING BACK INTO GEOGADDI TERRITORY! that means that the new album (it's being worked on right now) is gonna be dark, and hopefully guitar-less and less relaxing. The Fanboys on the Twoism forums think the new album's gonna be called "New Clear Dawn". Get it? New-Clear = Nuclear! those fanboys even found this website (registered in a hexagon sun collective member's name) called New Clear Dawn Systems That's full of hidden things. There's an all seeing eye, the caption below "NCD systems" spells out Fnord and it's all done in their signature font used on their T-Shirts. Those Twoism fanboys/detectives sure are on to something. New album chat aside, This album has my favorite BOC song on it, Left Side Drive. if you haven't heard the song, Look it up NOW! |

Wow this is really well written and some really nice choices so far. I've been meaning to check out Autechre actually and I can tell I'm going to find some other cool music from this seeing as I'm not too well versed in IDM. Looking forward to the next entry.

RDJ Album...one of my favorite electronic albums EVAR!1!!1
As for Trans Canada Highway, my favorite track on there would be Skyliner. And sure Dayvan Cowboy is nice, but I'm otherwise not too impressed with the EP. What's an EP doing on the list anyway?

Skyliner is and always will be on my top ten list of songs . the reason I put it on the list is because it shows how the new album's probably going to be amazing. and yes, i'm including EPs on this list too

#35: Sigur Ros: Von
Yep. I ranked this higher than Agaetis . I'm really like that. I liked this album better because I have a soft spot for ambient music and the ambient tracks here kick major butt. Listen to Dogun, It's beautiful, isn't it? also, the song Syndir Guds is one of my all time favorite songs. Jonsi's voice really stands out here, and the whale song-esque electronics in the background really compliment the song really well. Honestly, Von is underrated. Give it a try, listen to it openly. This is a really top notch album. Give it some love. #34: These New Puritans: Beat Pyramid Another great underrated album. I heard somewhere that this album is terrible, so I downloaded it to see what they were hating on, and I honestly didn't want to like it, but I couldn't help falling in love with it. Colours and Numerology (AKA Numbers) are seriously good songs. The song Doppelganger is a great ambient-ish track, showcasing the familiar thumping drums, and is filled with interesting effects. My personal favourite of the album, En Papier has interesting electronic textures and is incredibly hard to describe. You need to listen to it to get it. |
