Thats the point! This album is about emotion! Tracks like avril 14th or brt 4 are like taking a breath before facing the mosnter. They're elevator songs, u listen to it till u get to the next level (floor) it's that simple and few people seem to understand that, wich is odd because its kinda obvious... People usually think its "trash" while in fact they're filling a purpose for the good listeners, or for those who bother to understand an album.

I like Coheed and Cambria's first 3 albums. Pretty much got burned out on them though, but they are good.
And old prog vs. new prog is a senseless argument...they are both good! Both having their fair share of sucky bands/releases, of course.
