Default Bands you wish your country was known for

As the title implies, there are always a few bands you wish you could pawn off on another country. We have more than our fair share from Canada, Celine Dion, Nickelback *shudder* and quite a few others, but also a lot of real talent. So what bands from your country do you think should have more exposure?

I'll start off with one of my favorite rap artisis, DL Incognito, an underground artist from Ottawa. He's got a pretty solid local following, but outside that he seems to pretty unknown.

Next up we have Pony Up, an indie band from Montreal

Lastly, the Arkells from Hamilton. Check out the whole Jackson Square album.

hi, fellow canadian!
i wish my country's music scene was known for Godspeed you! Black emperor, and not justin bieber, celine dion and nickelback.

(i'm not saying that GY!BE is underground, because they're not. i'm just saying that most people know the canadian music scene by the artists/bands/singers that i mentioned.)

I'd say were quite known for Bryan Adams as well but he's nowhere near as bad as the others. Along with Godspeed I think The Constantines should get some more credit. Arkells are good but it's still pretty much The Constantines sound. Nardwuar the Human Serviette's band The Evaporators are a great, overlooked, fun garage rock/punk band from Vancouver that really deserve more attention than they get. Eric's Trip (and associated artists; Elevator, Julie Doiron, etc.), Attack in Black, Chad VanGaalen and The Unicorns (+ Clues, Islands, etc.) are others that make me proud of my country's musical output.

lucky ^

to be perfectly honest, i don't really think there's any bands from round my neck of the woods who aren't commercially exposed already. i don't concentrate on the music scene around here enough. the only bands from liverpool that i personally would consider being good are gomez and echo and the bunnymen. obviously the beatles too, who i don't like but are a very successful band, but all three of which are established.

edit: i just realised this said country, i was talking about city. ohwell.

England are known for The Beatles and The Rolling Stones and The Kinks and so many others, so I can't really complain about that.

I'd take him to Nickelback any day. I'm so, so sick of those ****ing hicks. It's even worse because I live near the band's hometown.
