I dunno. I was gonna say "at least Theory of a Dead Man aren't Canadian" but things didn't go as planned. I had no idea either.
As for me.. uhm.. DJ Eco? Filo & Peri? But they're big in the Trance scene so I don't know if that really counts. Well I can definitely say Hammock. That's for damn sure |

Lots and lots!
Orbital with one Kirk Hammett: Is this really 2009? Awesome track. Still the best place for beat orientated Dance music ever.

Another Canadian here!
I really wish more people know who the Tea Party were/that the Tea Party had become more well known when they were making music. Unfortunately I'm unable to link anything, as I'm still under 15 posts. But take my word...check these guys out...they really made some great music... (Edges of Twilight is a great album by 'em...)

Answering the question, many names come to mind now. I've mentioned a lot of bands in this thread, and for now that's only the tip of the iceberg. My favourite Spanish group (Héroes del Silencio) had a huge success in Europe (especially in Germany) and Latin America when it was active, so I can't complain about it. But that was in the 90's, so now I choose three young bands: * Delorean (they sing in English) is fortunately well-known amongst the indie-electronica lovers worldwide, but I think they deserve more recognition from the general public: * Vetusta Morla. I've talked about them before (here and here). I think it's a great band. To me, these guys are able to make some of the most emotional, deep and poetic songs in Spanish-language ever. Sometimes I get goose pimples when I listen to their songs. Another person and I have translated (as "amateurs", like a hobby) their lyrics. I hope we've done it well. It's been difficult, at least to me. * Sidonie. Also mentioned here. It was a great surprise to me to discover them. I hadn't heard a band like this since a long time ago. I think it is clearly much above the average quality of the last 15 years in the Spanish-language pop and rock. They admire The Beatles, David Bowie and Pink Floyd, so it can be perceived the influence in their music. And since they are much better (imo) than our shameful (from my point of view) current exportations in Spanish language, I think they should have more international repercussion.

Hail The Villian is moving up my list pretty quickly. They're from Oshawa, Ontario.
YouTube - ‪Hail The Villain - Take Back The Fear (Official HD Music Video)‬‎ But I also like State Of Shock and Art Of Dying from Vancouver. Social Code and Tupelo Honey from Edmonton. Age of Daze from New Brunswick. Alexisonfire, Our Lady Peace, Sum 41 and Finger Eleven from Ontario. Evans Blue from Toronto. The Trews from Nova Scotia. Wolf Parade from Quebec. We have a TON of musical talent in this country. |
