what do you look for in music?
when you're looking for some new music, what do you look for? what do you like?
i really like repetition in music, and minimalist elements. after a while, you get lost in the repetition and it sounds right cool. i also love experiments using sound, it gives the music some character. i HATE having lyrics in my music, i like it better when the voice is used as an instrument, and lyrics aren't the focus. it makes it so much more pleasing. post away, fellow interneters! Mostly I look for emotion and meaning, but often I also enjoy complexity (as in technical skill), atmosphere and (if it's appropriate) energy.

i enjoy when i can hear the full band and not just one instrument or person drowning out the rest of the band.

For me, there needs to be a good hook in the song. But said hook has to be pretty original, and extremely catchy.
I love the really intricate elements of a track as well - which is part of the reason Angelspit is among my favourite bands.

completely varies for me. At times I love really interesting indie/folk songs, usually go for artists with a bit of a quirky voice or something else really unique. If I'm on an electronic kick then I look for something more pop-sounding with a great track and a mix of musical influences. Right now I'm really into 80's so aside from replaying duran duran I'm looking for new bands with a real 80's glam rock sound. There's never one particular thing I'm looking for, I generally just narrow down the vague genre based on my mood at the time and go from there.

It depends on the kind of music.
