That's the Risk Greenday took ...they pissed a lot of people off buy making the music they did and acting like douchenozzles...and people love to hate. I get that.
But why do people have to deny that they did do some good things? Not matter what they are like now. Dookie was a f'n awesome album right down to F.O.D. They are an easy band to hate because of what we see/hear now. |

And as for Green Day, being the first band I ever admittedly got into, their early stuff WAS better, to an extent. Some of their songs are actually very good for what they try to accomplish, but as for making complete, well-rounded albums, they've done it once or twice. |

Dookie is one of the most overrated albums of the 90s. One or two decent songs and a bunch of filler. |

I'm just standing up for 2 albums. You may think it's overrated..I think it's justified. I'm sure you have had this debate a few times. |

Agreed. Frankly I would much rather listen to American Idiot. That album was the tits back in fifth grade, and while I never listen to it anymore, I still (sort of) appreciate it as one of the better pop/punk releases of the decade.

I won't go as far as to say it was one of the best albums of the 90s, that's for sure, but I enjoyed it a lot when it came out, as did many of my friends. I could give a rat's ass about the band now and since then, though.

I think im in the same boat as Rickenbacker when it comes to American Idiot. I thought it was alright when it came out and i was quite surprised by it. I had my little (it was little too) Greenday phase when i was a teenager but id stopped before American Idiot and still thought it was decent.
Cant say ive listened to it in a long time now though and may never do again but ill always say that it's not TOO bad. Not like Warning which was always shit. Im very indifferent when it comes to Greenday now. I used to enjoy Dookie alot when i was in school and i saw them live but now im just indifferent. Don't dislike them but i'll let them get on with their own thing and just not pay attention to it if i dont want to. Saying that their last album was horrific though. |
