Now that is one daunting discography I have been too nervous to tackle. I have a couple albums and a greatest hits along with all his Buffalo Springfield and CSNY stuff, but he just has so many albums that every time I feel like grabbing more I get overwhelmed and give up. I think I will try to start trudging through everything soon, though.

Yeah I know what you mean, I've only listened to one album but I'm sure he has a few must listen to type of albums. It's just daunting to pick another out of all 33, I was hoping a kind MBer could point me in the right direction

Harvest is the one I've listened to! I really like it. Next stop After The Gold Rush, thanks James.

Blue Öyster Cult

Secret Treaties (1974) > Agents Of Fortune (1976) > Tyranny & Mutation (1973) > Fire Of Unknown Origin (1981) > S/T (1972) > Cultösaurus Erectus (1980) > Spectres (1977) > Club Ninja (1986) > Mirrors (1979) > Imaginos (1988) > The Revölution By Night (1983)

Not only is Secret Treaties the best BÖC album, it is one of the best albums EVER!

No, it's a classification after I've listened to the songs a lot.

[quote[You're seriously gonna tell me the lyrics here are inferior to lyrics like "Will you be my girl, will you be my girl, will you be my, be my, be my girl"?[/quote]
No, I'm saying they're inferior to their GOOD songs. I agreed with you that "Be My Girl - Sally" was bad.

Quote:
You explictly stated that it's a pop song thus bad.
Where did I say this? Show me.

Quote:
I actually think The Police got less poppy, not the other way around. Outlandos is definitely poppy, even the "punk" songs are really pop songs in disguise.
Now I'm sure you're deaf...you think they got LESS pop oriented? Seriously?

Quote:
Also New Wave IS pop music.
nah.

Quote:
Ghost in the Machine had them experimenting with longer songs and more unusual structures and themes, I guess it's still pop despite that but it's more creative as well, and Summers was beginning to show a strong King Crimson influence, which is probably another factor in my prefering their later material.
Stop saying it's not pop because it's long or complex, jesus christ.

Quote:
Oh holy mother of god, PLEASE don't tell me you just made a racism analogy out of this.
Then it's like saying all people who play tabletop RPGs are nerds. I'm not making a statement on racism, it's a bloody comparison with something else.

Quote:
Most of Summers compositions are weird avant garde or joke songs. I think Omegaman is the only truly great song he wrote on his own. Though Shambelle and Behind my Camel are nice instrumentals, the last one is really King Crimson-ish.
I'll take "Behind My Camel" over "Omegaman" any day of the week.

Quote:
Every Breath You Take isn't that straightforward, it's rather clever in that it sounds like it's a sweet love song but it really isn't.
I dunno, I thought it was pretty obvious. He talks about watching a woman while she sleeps...

Quote:
Of course not.
OK good

Quote:
You're the one who says Summers is an underrated songwriter and that's his best song.
I never said he was underrated, I just said he and Copeland combined to write some good stuff. He didn't write enough to be argued over, though as I said above I think BMC is better.

Quote:
You're used to one thing and don't like change and that is nostalgia.
I just don't like what they did. I don't have an aversion to evolution.

Quote:
I'm sorry but Sting dominated Outlandos. Only two songs are not credited to him entirely. Regatta was more of a duo effort between Sting and Copeland. Zenyatta is also Sting dominated.
Just because he gets the songwriting credit doesn't mean he was in charge.

Quote:
That happens with a lot of bands, that doesnt mean the album isn't great, unless you think Sgt Peppers and Animals are terrible.
Except it's different by band.

Quote:
You give off that tone all the time, I know what I'm saying, I saw when you were bitching at Jackhammer earlier.
You're the one who tried to turn this into some personal crusade.

I'm not going to disagree but Mirrorballs "I'm the Ocean" is unreal.

Finally, BOC. Never cared too much for "Agents", because I found it a little too streamlined, but the rest of you're choices are right on.
