Well yeah, the jazzy bits are obviously part of their sound, but I'm talking about them throwing in the pop stuff. I can enjoy Calculating in bursts, but I find it difficult to listen to it all in a single sitting, unlike the other three.

Hey man, I love all those albums, I just think that The Police were the ultimate example of a band who got significantly better with every new release.

Though, I might have rated Outlandos d'Amour higher than Regatta if it weren't for Born in the 50s. Worst. Police song. Ever.

Be My Girl sucks too, great guitar but the vocals really f*ck it up. Dead End Job should have been on the album instead, that song is a riot.

The let down of 'Post' was 'It's oh so quiet'. One of the rare times when I physically cannot bear to listen to Bjork... (I'm now going to sit back and wait for the 'I can NEVER physically listen to Bjork' comments. )

Kate Bush

LA Woman is Jim at his most humorous. He doesn't take himself very seriously on that one, weither it's his vocal imitation of a blues guitar solo in Cars Hiss By My Window or lyrics like

"C'mon people, don't ya look so down
You know the rain man's comin' ta town
Change the weather, change your luck
And then he'll teach ya how ta...find yourself"

I know it's immature but I still laugh at that part.

Anyway. Strange Days and Morrison Hotel are excellent as well, Waiting for the Sun is also very solid, it's not as well liked because it's much more on the mellow side, though it also has some of their weirdest psychedelic freakouts. Those 3 are well worth checking out.

It never struck me as a humorous record, although them lyrics you posted made me giggle. His lyrics for the most part always seem very dark and hard to understand. Which is what I like about them, but I'm not THAT into them, since I've only heard 2 albums. Morrison Hotel was next on my list to listen to, I'll add Strange Days to that list as well since you rate it so highly.

I've never been able to understand why is that (the bold part). It's my favorite Doors album precisely because of that psychedelic sound. Some really great songs are there like Love Street, Summer's Almost Gone, Yes The River Knows...and especially Not to Touch the Earth one of the best Doors songs.
