i ordered this album straight from the Revelation Records website....mainly because i liked the name....so a band whose name comes from a Misfits song and consist of ex New York hardcore kids (108, Shelter)....i was expect by the numbers hardcore music....and have to say was really blown away....those elements are there by much better than i expected....and i had never really heard anything like it
I haven't listened to Texas Is the Reason in ages...I do remember liking the s/t EP better than the album though. I ought to give them a listen one of these days. I use to love Revelation Records though! I ordered quite a bit from them. Still one of my favorite Revelation albums is On the Might of Princes' Sirens.

I'd love to see your signature/links too, but the huge and obnoxious ones have caused me to block all signatures.

To name a few...
Lamb Of God - New American Gospel
Animals As Leaders - S/T
Blue Oyster Cult - Secret Treaties

All incredible albums. BOC are one of the greatest and most underrated bands ever.

Even with a title like Black Foliage: Animation Music, Vol. 1 I was unprepared for the scope of what the Olivia Tremor Control were doing on this record. I was absolutely floored, about 15 and a friend and I were listening to it on a drive to LA to see some lame "psych" band at the Troubadour (it might have been the Warlocks). After "Train Collector" we remained mostly quiet for the next hour. This belongs at the top of the heap in any discussion of psychedelia right next to Sgt. Pepper's and Smile.

I completely agree with the first part of your post and am extremely jealous of the second part.
