I'd say you couldn't go far wrong with any of Erik Satie's works if you're after a good, relaxing working environment, especially the gymnopedies.
As for me personally, I just love playin some 50s vocal jazz like Billie Holiday, Nat King Cole or Ella Fitzgerald. Some good old country and western's great listening after a long day as well. |

Electric Tears by Buckethead is a very relaxing album (with the execption of a few tracks). Great one, too. I think it's crossed the line to being part of my life.

I really dig some slow, atmospheric instrumentals when I have time to sit back, not do **** and just chill. Earth's The Bees Made Honey in the Lion's Skull is a prime example, as is Red Sparowes' Every Red Heart Shines Toward the Red Sun and Pelican's The Fire in our Throats Will Beckon the Thaw. I just realized that each of those albums have retardedly long titles. Coincidence?

I'd argue. I don't think it does, but that's just me. I'd say it's one of BH's best albums. Better than Crime Slunk Scene or Monsters and Robots (and that's saying something).

Definately check out Mew ("156", "Comforting Sounds" and "Special" especially), I find it so relaxing. Also, look up "Rainbow Flows" by Husky Rescue - without a doubt the most mellow song I've ever heard.
I would post Youtube links but I can't until I have 15 posts.

I can actually chillout to real noisy stuff if it's at the right volume and I'm in the right mood! However I almost always listen to the same band when I am either reading or catching up on sleep (I work nights- gimmie a break!)
Not many people would listen to them which is understandable but the added dimension is their lyrical content and imagery which goes back to Dark Age Britain.
