I'm seeing them live in about two weeks - i'm really really excited
They're my favourite band. I'm so jelous you're seeing them, I haven't seen them live yet - they don't come to the UK very often and when they do it's either the other side of the country or I've got something important on that day.

I can see why they were considered THE band. Even though bands like Muse and The White Stripes were better, The Strokes had that cool Indie New Yorker thing going on, I wasn't really into music back then but on hindsight they could've been really good if it wasn't for 2 mediocre follow up albums.

IIRC they were touted as the next fuc‎cking huge band, they make their great first album then started to suck

Meh. It's forgettable. I have a feeling their 4th album will be the worst of the lot

^Yep not expecting much, But Room On Fire is really good, Reptilia is my favourite Stroke's song and 12:51 is also up there. First Impressions Of Earth had a few good songs.

Thank you! Everyone here treats their 2nd and 3rd albums like steaming piles of dung. They may not be amazing, but they're certainly not bad either.
