I love that Zappa album, but I don't even feel its message applies to bubblegum pop artists of today, moreso the boring 'peace and love' only-indie-due-to-label-status bands that run amok ("surf punk" ahoy!).

Really, it's just attention to detail. I can understand it as a massively difficult craft in the pre-digital era when it was cutting up tape. But, I mean, in this day and age all it takes is the time, the hardware, and the software. Have a nice enough soundcard setup to facilitate recording/rendering of high quality audio, and I guarantee you it's probably, in the end, a lot easier than you're led to believe. |

Top Five Songs I Used As Ringtones Before I Got Tired Of That Foolishness And Left My Phone On Vibrate:
1.) B.Y.O.B. - System of a Down (The "Where the f*ck are you?!" part. I used it as my mother's ringtone, because that was generally her sentiments when I picked up.) 2.) Sealab 2021 Theme - Calamine (Pretty much the whole thing played when it rang.) 3.) Fell In Love With a Girl - The White Stripes (One of my ex girlfriends had this ringtone when she called. She picked it.) 4.) I Touch Myself - The Divinyls (My best friend and I chose really inappropriate ringtones for each other years ago. This one stayed for a long time.) 5.) Joy - Phish (The "We want you to be happy, don't live inside the gloom; we want you to be happy, 'cause this is your song, too..." bit.) |
