What operating system are you using? If you're in Windows, I've tried all the major applications and some of the minors as well. For large library management, I cannot praise MediaMonkey Gold enough. It is robust, brimming with advanced features, and has a manageable learning curve. Foobar is a popular choice among audiophiles and is certainly the best open freeware media tool. And the interface is customizable to suit your specific needs. I'd suggest installing each and trying them out for a bit. If you favor MM you can always upgrade to Gold down the line.
