The first song I ever learnt on guitar was some crappy Joan Jett song which involved about 3 different power chords, I must've been about 15.

I don't know the last song I learnt, I haven't played for ages, and when I do, it's originals for my band.

Just a quick question, are anyone else having troubles with this thread? It stays subscribed even after I click unsubscribe and it always has a new update .. As in it's always there when I press User CP no matter! And 80sfan always has the latest post!

Is it me or the thread?

Guitar:

First actual song I learnt I think was 'The Clansman' by Iron Maiden, before that it was just random riffs i'd learnt from my guitar teacher at the time who taught out of a church down the road.

More recently, I learn't 'Besame Mucho' for Acoustic Guitar. Fun piece to play.

Bass:

First would be Londons Calling by The Clash

Last would probably be a very low brow and lazy version of Victor Wootens Amazing Grace

Banjo:

First I learnt how to claw-hammer and drop thumb on youtube

then last week I sussed out brown eyed girl by van morrison and mgmt kids using the clawhammer technique. Mind you I havent been playing more than two weeks yet.

Default First and last tunes

Due to my age!......when I played guitar...(Pro bassist now)....I went to lessons and the first piece (apart from the syllabus) I was allowed to bring along was "The Rise and Fall of Flingel Bunt" by THe Shadows! Now there's a title for you!

The last piece was the bass line for "When You Get back" by John Cleary for a gig I had to do......!

The first song I learned all the way through and was able to sing along with was a crappy acoustic version of "Mad World" by Tears For Fears. My family members grew tired of me playing such a depressing song constantly, so I was forced to learn other songs.

The first song I learned all the way through, solo and all, would have to be "Joy" by Phish. I'm actually really proud of that one, even if it's pretty much straight open chords.

The last song I learned was "Grenade" by Bruno Mars, because a lady I'm trying to woo asked me to do so. She's probably made me sing and play it at least 20 times now. I still think it sucks (my version - I really don't have much of an opinion on the song itself) but she seems down with it.

I'm working on learning "A Case Of Ice and Snow" by Trey Anastasio, because I think it's lovely and depressing. I'm in that kind of mood.

first - Little Richard - Good Golly Miss Molly (21 years ago)
last - Sheila on 7 - Pilihlah Aku (that was three years ago)

didn't cover anything after that, now mostly doing free jazz and Beefheart-ish sketches and noise-rock

First: Nirvana - Polly

Last: Dillinger Escape Plan - 43% Burnt

Well, the easier riffs from it.
