Really? His guitar work on the first Stone Roses album is phenomenal.

Oh I know, not knocking his ability or anything. I love SR S/T.. I just think he wanted to express himself as a painter not a rock star. Even if the legal thing never happened I could've seen Squire going in that direction anyway, I think that was his true passion. When he was on the culture show he wanted to talk about his art NOT The Stone Roses..

I don't think he really handled fame well until the very end living with Yoko in NY. The point is that he wasn't cut out for fame. I think it would've been much better for him to never have gone into the business, but I sure am glad he did. Yeah, everyone's got family problems to an extent. John's childhood was pretty traumatic. It's not the main reason for his problems later in life, but it sure played a part in it. Listen to the songs "Julia," "Mother," and "My Mummy's Dead." Haunting. You can't deny that the guy was troubled. The pressures of fame is one of the last things a guy like he needed. And a persons social problems are never just because they're weird. They're always caused by something (be it a mental or physical problem or experience or belief...something). |

seems to me a lot of people are confusing not being cut out for fame with being taken out of the spotlight early as being one and the same.
just because one was taken out doesn't mean they weren't cut out for it. Britney Sprears is actually a very valid example same with Michael Jackson. John Lennon is not. seriously, you'd become a recluse long before you called yourself bigger than jesus if you're not cut out for fame. |

I'd also like to add Axl Rose and Sly Stone to the list. Both of them for pretty much the same reasons. While on the one hand it's hard to picture either of them doing anything aside from being a rock star, the pressures of fame seemed to cause both of them to kind of implode.

I've conducted a lot of research about this and know what I'm talking about. But if the perspective of a "noob" like me isn't good enough for you, do the research yourself. Check out a real book from a real library and read it (I'm not talking about Wikipedia - although that's better than nothing). Have fun! On the topic of Britney Spears, I say excellent call. |

There's two that I can think of.
First. Scott Stapp from Creed You shouldn't call your band a christian band if you yourself aren't a good christian. i.e beat your wife and shoot heroin. On a personal note: I don't like his voice. Second. Bono from U2. I hate hearing famous people telling everyone to donate money all of the time. It reminds me of that time Paris Hilton didn't register to vote. On a personal note: In my honest OPINION I think that U2 is a bad band. I don't like there style at all, maybe it's just me. |
