Linkin Park - Hybrid Theory. :D

I'm not sure what my first was... There are three that come to mind: Gorillaz's self-titled, Linkin Park's "Hybrid Theory", and The Beatles' "Rubber Soul".
But I think it was Rubber Soul.

^ Not bad for a first album eh?

And I agree with The Beatles. I don't tire of them. :D

Yeah, funny story actually. My guitar teacher gave me the album when I was like 8. All I wanted to play was Linkin Park and stuff, but he was like "Here, listen to this." I fell in love.

Nice guitar instructor, mine only gave me a plec. Only had 2 lessons though, so I decided to self teach. Got bored of learning A C D

Your musical compatibility with sgtpepper4088 is LOW

Music you have in common includes The Beatles and Bright Eyes.

:(

crap.
I can't seem to get my foobar to scrobble with last.fm. plus I hardly use last.fm anyway...only to get recommendations (but lately I've just been coming here). So my last.fm account isn't really the best indicator of my tastes.
I like Nirvana and Oasis though (I think i remember you saying you like them)!
check out my most important albums post for a better indication.

Nice!
yeah, my first instructor was pretty cool. Then he quit to play with his band full time in NYC. My second teacher was terrible. I was better than him. his first assignment for me was: write 3 chord songs. I was like "are you kidding?" We did that for a couple weeks. then I switched to a different place with a MUCH better teacher. He was the best i had. We played a lot of floyd and zeppelin. Lots of great solos. Then I stopped around 8th grade I think.

I'm all for taking lessons. I think it's important to get an understanding of theory. But if you can teach yourself and come away with a good command over the instrument, that's awesome!!! I had a friend in high school who taught himself guitar and had only been playing for a little over a year and he was NUTS! some people are just insanely gifted.

Jesus. 8th grade. So you were like 13 or 14 then? I don't do grades. :(
I couldn't think of doing anything worse than playing Pink Floyd.
Zeppelin are a different story.
Black Dog and whole lottta love are fun to play.
Mine was alright with the first one he taught me A D C or something
Then I decided I wanted to tackle it again when I was 17
Went to another one and started to learn Smells Like Teen Spirit, then I realised he was teaching me the proper chords instead of the power chords version. He wanted to get me going up and down the fret board, I wanted to play it like Kurt. So that pissed me off. So yeah 4 lessons, the second lesson with the second teacher we parted ways. But they were nice to have for the 4 weeks to speak to and guidance etc. I've been playing a year in June and can read any tab and play, some take more looking at than others so I think I'm doing okay. :D how long have you been playing?
