Hmmm... The only one I really love is Arrested Development, whose 1992 debut I consider a cornerstone of any alternative hip-hop collection.

This kind of list needs to generate controversy in order for anyone to get interested, so it's predictable that it will have lots of acclaimed artists on it. I think the list itself is rather ridiculous, but it's still fun to read some of the reasoning behind it, though.

Like this bit of trivia about Rick Wakeman :

Quote:
Appalling fact While playing Yes songs live, Wakeman would wolf down curry during sections in which he had little to do.

I like the list, thats a lot of artists i hate....but in terms of actual talent I disagree with a couple. I hate Celine Dion, but she can still sing...and while i may not b a huge Stones fan, Jagger is an icon of rock. Being a rock star is almost more about your attitude then your actual talent, though his signing isnt that bad.

29 SKINNY PUPPY
The audience rarely sang along to “Dog****”
And so it came to pass in the 1980s that two Canadian Kevins changed their names to cEvin and Nivek in order to make themselves more interesting, hired a singer named Dwayne (who would die of a heroin overdose) and spent almost a decade making ear-torturing industrial music. The sound of whiny students on drugs sampling Timothy Leary — as scary as Mannheim Steamroller.
Appalling fact On the Head Trauma tour, cEvin sliced open his stomach with broken glass and performed a vivisection. Relax, everyone — he was only pretending.
Worst CD Too Dark Park (Nettwerk, 1990)
Looks like Blender don't see the joys of ear-torturing industrial music, oh no boo hoo Maybe they wanted to rip **** out of an influential underground band to make things somewhat interesting.

And strangely enough Too Dark Park is probably their best album.

Apart from Tin Machine not being that bad, the rest of the list's pretty much spot on. Although I'm not really a fan of them, but I wouldn't lump Primus or Skinny Puppy with the rest of that lot either.

edit - Just noticed the Doors there as well. Deary me.

And they did a good job throwing the member names and duties into a blender...Dwayne doesn't sing and cEvin is on synths and drum machines...not out front slicing his stomach with broken glass.

Dumb list, like tore said, to generate controversy.

Kind of makes us all realize though, as we run to defend our favorites and call the list maker an idiot, that just because we don't like something doesn't mean it sucks. Right?

I'd love to see your signature/links too, but the huge and obnoxious ones have caused me to block all signatures.

1/2 that list came from a box DJ at a wedding...

Don't agree with Skinny Puppy AT ALL however.

Why is Kenny G only at #4? Well, at least he's in the top 5. Maybe if he played a tenor sax instead of that fucking whiny soprano sax his music might be a little more enjoyable.
