OHHHHHHHHHH YEAH.
Damn, talk about constipation of the brain. Kinda forgot about the "American" part. Silly me. Kinda explains the lack of Sex Pistols, The Clash, The Cure, The Smiths, Joy Division and all the other bands Blender constantly goes on about in a pathetic (and failed) attempt at gaining hipster approval. Neil Young is in there though, America's finest musical journalists at work people. Last edited by boo boo; 03-14-2010 at 12:14 AM. |

Michael Bolton should be top of this list, no questions about it. Followede by Kenny G. and Celine Dion... I'd suggest more, but main, I already threw up in my mouth a little...

What's wrong with Celine Dion? Not that I'm a fan, but I thought if you like soppy love songs and power ballads by female singers, she'd be pretty good.
Is it her or do people just hate that kind of music in general and she's an easy target?

I think it's probably the fact that she is an easy target... she's got vocal chops but her style of music turns me waaaaaaaaaaay off...

With ELP, the Doors, Rick Wakeman, the Alan Parsons Project, and Yanni up there, it seems almost as if Blender has an axe to grind with keyboardists/pianists. Rather than critically analysing the whole list or picking out the bands/artists I think shouldn't be up there, I'll say that most of the list is decent. But I will say this: I like Primus but I can understand why their polarising nature might land them a place in a list like this (even if I disagree). And that's why I can't understand why bands like Jamiroquai would be up there. Personally, I think they're overrated as their albums strike me as being rather homogeneous and inconsistent (that and I prefer Incognito). But one of the worst artists in music history... really? They're good at what they do and their basslines alone disqualify them from this list.

She's the best selling female artist ever, having sold over 200 million records. I don't think your comparison does her justice.
From a quick glance, she's the second female artist on that list, the only other being La Toya Jackson. So, the second worst female artist in history also happens to be the biggest seller? Looks to me like an easy target picked by people who need to provoke. If I could sell that many records, it would easily be worth a spot on that list.
