Please humor me, how exactly is a double album where half of the tracks either sound like someone running over instruments with a steamroller or simply consist of a guy who can't sing chanting random jibberish in a cappela not at least a little overindulgent?

I thought these ass holes went out of business?

Looking at this list I can't imagine why.

I think even leaving out the fact that we may have a soft spot or appreciate certain bands, taking an overall view of music and what's out there, half of this list really does suck and suggests to me an actual lack of musical understanding. Half of those listed are just easy derivative targets. If Whitesnake are on the list why not Buckcherry or Warrant? Arrested Development- why not Vanilla Ice?

It's all too easy to be negative but it takes a bit more upstairs to be positive. I find it quite funny and pitiful really. Not worth getting your knickers into a twist over.

Definetly agree with this bit. Also, I'm sometimes slightly irritated by people who define their taste in music by what they don't like rather than what they do like. As you say, being negative is real easy.

I think a big difference between me and Boo is when I read stuff like this, I may feel a little pang of irritation and think something along the lines of "this moronic dribble can be safely ignored". On the net, I tend to ignore things I don't like. Boo doesn't and deals with irritation partly by writing rants. Aside from that difference, I basically agree with everything he's written so far.

Welcome back, my friends, to the second-worst band in history! “Boasting” former members of the Nice, King Crimson and — yes! — Atomic Rooster, the less-than-super ’70s supergroup ELP shunned blues-based rock in favor of bombastically reinterpreted classical works — with bewilderingly successful results. A nightmarish enough proposition on record, the Brit trio’s live shows were peppered by interminable solo spots, including a 20-minute drum workout by Carl Palmer that ended with him ringing a cowbell held between his teeth. Appalling fact Singer-bassist Greg Lake performed on a $10,000 Persian rug that roadies vacuumed before every show. Worst CD Love Beach (Rhino, 1978)
Yeah, how DARE a band break from convention and do something different.
Good point I think it's interesting that when I read the information above, I can't see where the text highlights anything bad about ELP except a generally negative angle demonstrated by the use of the word "nightmarish". If you'd never heard of ELP or any of their music before, the text above wouldn't actually tell you why they deserve a spot on that list. Does classic influences, long solos or persian rugs make a number 2 on a list of the worst artists EVER?

Some poor criteria I'd say.

The one thing I struggle with is how they bash Lynyrd Skynyrd on that list and the next list I read hes on the 100 greatest American albums of all time...top 20 even.

Seems they just pull **** out of their asses or 50 different people are making these lists.

I was surprised to see The Doors in that list, not really a fan myself but the 49 worst artists in music history

Surely, The Doors > Nickelback..

ELP had some merit in their day. Didn't age well, perhaps. That said, Love Beach deserves to be on any list of worst albums ever...and I do believe that is an OBJECTIVE statement rather than just an opinion.
