When you cried as a little baby
Mom and daddy let you cry Thought that that was the best way maybe To make you grow all strong inside Now that you're older You need someone's shoulder What about mine? paul westerberg

pretty much all of "seventy times seven" by brand new. jesse lacey is basically saying "**** you i hope you die", but he says it so eloquently!
same with "me vs. maradona vs. elvis". it's about taking advantage of a drunk girl but again, eloquence. "seventy times seven" So is that what you call a getaway? Tell me what you got away with Cause I've seen more spine on jellyfish I've seen more guts on eleven-year-old kids Have another drink and drive yourself home I hope there's ice on all the roads And you can think of me when you forget your seatbelt and again when your head goes through the windshield Is that what you call tact? You're as subtle as a brick in the small of my back So let's end this call and end this conversation And is that what you call a getaway? Tell me what you got away with Cause you left the frays from the ties you severed when you say "best friends" means friends forever "me vs. maradona vs. elvis" With one or two I get used to the room We go slow when we first make our moves But five or six bring you out to the car Number nine with my head on the bar And it's sad, but true Out of cash and I.O.U's I got desperate desires and unadmirable plans My tongue will taste the gin and malicious intent Bring you back to the bar, get you out of the cold A sober straight face gets you out of your clothes And they're scared that we know all the crimes they'll commit Who they'll kiss before they get home I will lie awake Lie for fun and fake the way I hold you Then you'll fall for every empty word I say Barely conscious in the door where you stand Your eyes are fighting sleep while your mouth makes your demands You laugh at every word, trying hard to be cute I almost feel sorry for what I'm gonna do And your hair smells of smoke Who will cast the first stone? You can sin or spend the night all alone Brass buttons on your coat hold the cold In the shape of a heart that they cut out of stone You're using all your looks that you've thrown from the start If you let me have my way, I swear I'll tear you apart Cause it's all you can be You're a drunk and you're scared It's ladies night, all the girls drink for free I will lie awake Lie for fun and fake the way I hold you Then you'll fall for every empty word I say... you have to listen to them both to get the full effect. trust me. |

And you run, and you run to catch up with the sun, but it's sinking
Racing around to come up behind you again The sun is the same in a relative way, but you're older Shorter of breath and one day closer to death Every year is getting shorter Never seem to find the time Plans that either come to nought Or half a page of scribbled lines Hanging on in quiet desparation is the English way The time is gone The song is over Thought I'd something more to say

Blue yonder dreams and second hand shoes
You're so far gone that you live to close And it's too late to go home all alone You're the tar in that old cigar And the worn out cable on a cable car And you're too tired to admit you've got to chose I'm looking for a song to sing I'm looking for a friend to borrow I'm looking for my radio So I might find a heart to follow I've never been just longing for your loving I've never been just wearing down to nothing I've never been just looking for a reason So that maybe you'd be thinking of me - Hanson, A Song to Sing It's my favorite song...it's melancholy, and really poetic, IMO...love it. |

"Last night I heard Lepers flinch like birth defects"
(The Mars Volta, "Inertiatic ESP") "If I would, could you?" (Alice In Chains, "Would?") "We're all wounded in our respective ways" (Bayside, "The Walking Wounded") "If you really want to live, why not try and make yourself?" "If you let them make you, they'll make you Paper-Mache At a distance you're strong, until the wind comes Then you'll crumble and blow away. If you let him **** you there will be no foreplay. Rest assured, They'll screw you complete, Until your ass is blue and grey!" (Incubus, "Make Yourself") "I will walk away and say You ****ing disappoint me Maybe you're better off this way!" (A Perfect Circle, "Passive")
