I agree, except Cassadaga had alot of pretty mediocre lyrics. Have you heard his lyrics for Desaparecidos?
"I could sell just like water takes the shape of where it is held I’m overflowing with ambition but I got to keep in mind the bottom line is the dollar signs and big bright lights inequality franchised the next location is mine we’re gonna lower costs it’s a work of art our giant golden arch I’m gonna start a factory the size of a country I’m gonna teach them all to work for liberty." |

Two Shaves and a Shine by Nurse With Wound
In little sunrise of goblin eyes, I watch the coupling of the flies. Under waving trees and bumble bees I strain to amputate my knees. With ****roach cutters made of mutton, My eyes gleam green as moss jade buttons. I will not wake from childish dreams – I cannot bear to catch the screams. I cannot bear to catch the screams Of bugs impacting on windshield screens. I shave my tab with turquoise sickle, From its stub the fishes trickle. My stunted fingers, piss-stained knuckles, Clogged with blood, start to buckle. Murdered turtles, mildew, moss, Dead pets in gardens – I’m the boss! My smile is wide in seas of cider, Pull your teeth with geese and spiders, Cup these jaws in my hand, Make them jig in globs of sand. I write these words to pass the time, And stay alive – two shaves and shine – And block out the sound of chickens’ wails, Defeathering them on beds of nails. Yeah.

here's an example....
[cl smooth] You’re everything that I dream about, talk about Walk around and brag about, cause I don’t give a damn about What they say, what he say, or she say I’m addicted like drugs to your loving, but hey You got me strung like I’m young and it’s crazy You’re making me nervous, I don’t deserve this, I’m swayze I wish I could be but you really got a hold on me With your sex appeal, I’m telling you how I feel, **** is real Now I don’t really want to play myself so I say to myself: Son get a grip and don’t slip Cause I don’t want you to think I’m some clown from out of town I get down, I’ve been around, I ain’t no hand-me-down So you gotta show respect for me if you’re checking for me And don’t sweat me cause I really don’t want no sweat on me If you got it, good, flaunt it You know what it takes and you know how I want it |

Napalm Death-You Suffer.
Lyrics: You suffer..but why? I'm not being facetious, honestly! I think these lyrics are pretty good advice.

I think HIM has some of the most beautiful lyrics i've ever read. They're so deep and tragically beautiful...i love this line especially,"I play dead,to hide my heart til the world gone dark fades away".

The Offspring - I'll Be Waiting
Once I had a friend that I could count on So I thought Well so it seemed But times of need are not enough To prove your friendship to me now Once I saw a face that I believed in But a mask was all there was So who wears the masks and who wears the faces Well I guess I'll never know But as I stand here alone in a room full of people With nothing to say Beer on their minds, and smoke in the air Call them friends but they just don't care Friend for life Such shallow words for broken minds Show me a friend for life Cause I'll be waiting for that day to arrive When I'll feel alive I'll be waiting for that day Once I found a love I had to know Now we might know each other just too well Cause when we're together we just can't get enough Or is it we just can't get what we want Once I saw a dream, I had to chase it Dreams quickly turn to reality Who's at fault in this game of yours and mine Well I guess I'll never know But as I sit here alone Think of the girl who came softly inside me The look in her eyes, the smell of her hair Call her my own but is she really there? Love for life Such noble words for noble minds Show me a love for life Cause I'll be waiting for that day to arrive When I'll feel alive I'll be waiting for that day Once I had a friend that I could count on Times of need are not enough Once I found a love I had to know Now we might know each other just too well Once I saw a dream I had to chase it Dreams quickly turn to reality Now let me close my eyes Because I don't want to see anything anymore |

Circle Takes the Square - "Non-Objective Portrait of Karma"
Light as a feather, stiff as a stone... ...ignorance is bliss no wise woman's failed to mention and surely some koan suggests 'neglect leads to perfection' but the more I turn my face from the crowd the more I feel my backs' increasingly compelled for the sake of escape, to turn a knife on itself, a knife of relief, from all the petty insight and finally I'll sleep, I'll sleep through the night. Bored as fuck with this street corner-cover. study of a face in a figure. surveying this language as a game surveilence of this language as the plague. the dimension of persistence condemns. This portrait of karma, crafted in accident text book seduction, minus the text in the language of ghosts and so we ran, like the wolves were biting, the inhibitions of their prey kept them from screaming "scratch my back and I will stab you in yours" so I chose to live this life alone, without the teeth marks but I predict, I'll have to sink my fangs in someone else's heart to heal my own. just a victim's split, one part for the wolves, one part for you. but I'll grow weary soon, weary of this fractal code, weary of this hallway lined with ghosts. just a scratch upon the skin, a drop of blood to let them in their words will cause the sweetest fracture from a stone's throw just a scratch upon the skin, a drop of blood to welcome them parasitic, viral critics, or lovers, like spirits mingling in the mist that we crafted, a starving jury, let them eat shit from our trembling hands. The heat for heat's sake, on this Barnard block of Congress deductively speaking, the polar of progress well maybe I put too much faith in the accident entranced, we danced toward the ripest display of escape let the starving ghosts feast from this flesh, from these bones, let them all feast. In this chess game of language, forced to sit so I play all alone, watch the bathos drift forth like the petals from a wild crafted rose. Last edited by CAPTAIN CAVEMAN; 07-18-2007 at 02:51 PM. |

Next up: Rocky Votolato - Death-Right
Rocky could be my favourite lyricist ever. you'll die young if you live so carefully / there are risks you must take to pay this world / I know it would never be that easy / I have not yet earned the right to die / I want you to hear me screaming / I want you to notice what goes on / temptation and evil demons crawling the earth hiding in every corner I've seen men crippled in anger / the sun burns alive in silence / I've seen men wallow in fear / inaction acts as a blade across the throat / I'll learn how to make decisions / I'll stick by my word - won't let you down / I swear by the grave that's calling / nothing will stop me from doing what must be done something here is still innocent / It doesn't matter if you decide not to believe it / There are still places where the magic can breathe / I want to breathe it in / I want to lay down and never leave we're stalking the ancient mariner / through waters he takes his lonely course / once powerful once beautiful / extinction lingering these things are no more / I love you I'll never leave you / though I may be gone for years on end / I will never be separate / lovers through the lives before and after something here is still innocent / It doesn't matter if you decide not to believe it / There are still places where the magic can breathe / I want to breathe it in / I want to lay down and never leave |

Tonight will be the last night of my record-breakingly successful run in the lead role of the greatest play of the century,
Unprecedentedly warm praise from critics and public alike has met my portrayal of a man at his desk who gives a damn And I'd like to thank all my friends and fans for always pushing me to soldier on. So one last time for the cameras, my greatest soliloquy "Oh, oh, oh, if I could only see the clear blue sky from my office window. Oh, oh, then it would only take a steel gray day and I'd take my bow." To whom it may concern: I'd like to nominate myself to receive and award. As a small symbol of recognition for my body of work A lifetime of selling my body to pay the bills But my heart and my mind are mine Mine, you will not win this war This is just a battle Oh, oh, oh, well, I've surrendered you My physical attendance here But no, no, no, you will not take my soul, Lest we forget why I'm sitting here My letter to the Human Resources Department says: "You started a war so you'll get what you started" I'm only working here because I need the fucking money I'm only working here because I need the fucking money I'm only working here because I need the fucking money I'm only working here because I need the fucking money I'm only working here because I need the fucking money I'm only working here because I need the fucking money I'm only working here because I need the fucking money I'm only working here because I need the fucking money |
