Points to second quote in sig.
|
I am the horizon.
I have dreamed of tracing rings around this world. My arms are stretched to forever. My fingers shake with the fear of control. The fear I know you all know so well. We all lay claim to our destinies. Yet we all rise and fall with the current. |
Quote:
what song is this? the first two lines are so familiar. |
Postlapsaria, I gotta agree with that one. It's Billy Werner at his best.

I don’t owe me any money
You don’t owe me a thing When we drink beer Dragonflies appear Dragonflies appear <3 Devendra Banhart |

I've always loved this one line from Bandages by Hot Hot Heat:
I've been tripping from sipping the dripping dirty water tap The rhythm there is just so perfect it hurts. :p: |
"everyone wants to go to heaven, but no one wants to die" Peter Tosh
|
And if you save yourself, you will make him happy. He'll keep you in a jar, and you'll think you're happy. He'll give you breathing holes, then you'll think you're happy. He'll cover you with grass, and you'll think you're happy. - Sappy

Considering there a a ton of people here I belive that we can expose other people and expose ourself to some awesome music that we have never heard of. Well anyways, I will start.
I like at the moment. (I change my fav song everyday) Hotcha Girls Ugly Casanova. --- Smells like autumn smells like leaves you don't know that you'll rust and not belong so much and then get left alone. suck it up take a ride and take a walk dont you know that the old folks home smells so much like my own the hotcha girls on the palasades dime store keets, pretty birds, pretty birds. mamas little truck rose, her dancy feet, her happy laugh. We were dropping dimes on the ponies, in the cul de sac casting shadows throwing sparks. We left our teeth marks on the barrle of a gun.... the clipper ship across your chest. Turns out the pony only had one truck, a wink for the truck stop boys. they learned it all from the polaroids. smells like autumn smells like leaves you dont know that you'll rust and not belong so much and ten get left alone. suck it up, take a ride and take a walk, font you know that old folks home smells so much like my own home. Time bends light. Paints are peeling, wait out side, take four rights. the hotcha girls in the palasades, dime store keets, pretty birds pretty mouths. Glass eyes and wooden teeth, the engine rusting in deep deep sleep, it waits. The mail came from miles away, the post man is always late, and we wait and we wait. tight lipped like a big old mouth, the goverment workers all headed south while it rained glassy eyes and the wooden teeth, the engine rusted in deep deep sleep. And it wait, and it waits, to awake. --- well that is the lyric that I like at this moment, I would like ,now, to know what are your favorite lyrics, at this moment. |
the Smiths- Rubber Ring
A sad fact widely known The most impassionate song To a lonely soul Is so easily outgrown But don't forget the songs That made you smile And the songs that made you cry When you lay in awe On the bedroom floor And said "Oh, oh, smother me Mother..." The passing of time And all of its crimes Is making me sad again The passing of time And all of its sickening crimes Is making me sad again But don't forget the songs That made you cry And the songs that saved your life Yes, you're older now And you're a clever swine But they were the only ones who ever stood by you The passing of time leaves empty lives Waiting to be filled The passing of time Leaves empty lives Waiting to be filled I'm here with the cause I'm holding the torch In the corner of your room Can you hear me ? And when you're dancing and laughing And finally living Hear my voice in your head And think of me kindly Do you Love me like you used to ? Oh ... Rubber ring, rubber ring, rubber ring, rubber ring |
here's mine.. kinda oldies from Richard Carpenters..
I'm Still Not Over You Just today I saw you smile And it took me back to yesterday You still move me like you did When you read me with your eyes that way Haven't seen you for a while Father Time must be a friend of yours You still take my breath away Do I really have to say How much I want you (*) Just when I thought I was doin' alright Sleepin' away almost half of the night Now who Who was the last one I needed to see Just when I had most of my broken heart Put back together to make a new start Now I have to forget startin' over I'm still not over you I was calm as I could be As the feelings all came back again What I was supposed to do Treat you like a stranger or a friend I'm not wise in things of heart I'm not one of those who knows the moves I was hangin' by a thread Hangin' on each word you said To hear I love you |
Probably Bob Marley's "War". A lot of this song is taken from a speech Haile Selassie made to the UN is 1963. genius.
Until the philosophy which hold one race superior And another Inferior Is finally And permanently Discredited And abandoned - Everywhere is war - Me say war. That until there no longer First class and second class citizens of any nation Until the colour of a man's skin Is of no more significance than the colour of his eyes - Me say war. That until the basic human rights Are equally guaranteed to all, Without regard to race - Dis a war. That until that day The dream of lasting peace, World citizenship Rule of international morality Will remain in but a fleeting illusion to be pursued, But never attained - Now everywhere is war - war. And until the ignoble and unhappy regimes that hold our brothers in Angola, In Mozambique, South Africa Sub-human bondage Have been toppled, Utterly destroyed - Well, everywhere is war - Me say war. |

Love lost, such a cost, Give me things that don't get lost. Like a coin that won't get tossed Rolling home to you. -old man, neil young But Ill live on and Ill be strong cause it just aint my cross to bear. - aint my cross to bear, allman brothers She thinks of John Travolta on the same day as me She even likes artichoke hearts like me She likes corn corn on the cob she eats cornflakes before she goes to her job well shes an artist, shes got everything she needs shes very modest got a bruise on her knee shes got a mole on her back its hairy and black shes got a butt like a pillow and she likes to wear black Chorus: well i wanna be her hero wanna be her man well i wanna be her lover any way i can and i wanna be her friend and im doing all i can cuz i love her little smiles and all the letters she sends she sends me Shes a dopey little girl and her names not nancy in her own little world her names diane She likes to play piano Love to hear her play She likes to talk to me i love to hear her say she loves me a whole freakin lot she loves me a whole freakin lot she loves me a whole freakin lot oh she loves me a whole freakin lot - she sends me, moe. But you’re (she’s) not the first you know, and you (she) won’t be the last There’s a long list of has-beens waiting down at the pass And when you (she) figure it out, that I’m not white trash They won’t let you (her) on the train that I’m on cause it’s moving too fast - movin too fast, brandon rhyder I’d rather sleep in a box like a bum on the street Than a fine feather bed without your little ol’ cold feet I’d rather be deaf, dumb, and stone blind Than to know that your mornings will never be mine I’d rather die young than to live without you I’d rather go hungry than eat lonesome stew It’s once in a lifetime and it won’t come again It’s here and it’s gone on a magnolia wind I’d rather not walk through the garden again If I can’t catch your scent on a magnolia wind If it ever comes time that it comes time to go Sis just pack up your fiddle Sis pack up your bow If I can’t dance with you then I won’t dance at all I’ll just sit this one out with my back to the wall I’d rather not hear pretty music again If I can’t hear your fiddle on a magnolia wind If I can’t catch your scent on a magnolia wind - magnolia wind, guy clark |
Ted Leo & the Pharmacists - Biomusicology
Had we never come across the vastness of pavement The barrenness of waves and the grayness of the sea Never lost or ne'er been misguided We'd have ne'er reached seas so shining Or come from out of a hansom in Camden To a bar in the basement While all the while it rained Or come around to the friendliest of faces Handsomest in ugly places Or come from out of the tunnels we dig in To see that tunneling's not living And working doesn't work Or come to find that loving is labor Labor's life and life's forever Or come to see that keeping's not giving You get what you've given You get what you deserve And in the midst of all of the action Maybe only there found satisfaction Chasing sea-foam dreams Around another dirty old town Parallel run streams Toward the gray ocean from the green ground 'Oed und leer, das meer But look beneath the glassy surface All the songs you hear Down there they have a purpose All in all we cannot stop singing we cannot start sinking We swim until it ends They may kill and we may be parted But we will ne'er be broken hearted |
