My folks gave me this art, your broken heart is my pallet
While I was out honing my craft you was disowning your talent

Good line!

You kick the bucket and I'll swing my legs
Always remember the pact that we made
Too young to die but old [is the grave] isn't great"

I always thought they said, "Old is the grave..." Kinda pissed about that one :/

Here's the lyrics from one of my band's songs.

THE PURSUIT

When I awoke, I beheld in the tempest the passion inside it's design
Born out of love and a determination to burn in the fire of life
Breathing in, the fire is calling
Can't you feel it calling to you?
Come wash your hands clean of yesterday
The moment is now
It exists

People will speak of the deeds which unfolded, but others will follow
People will reap of the seeds that have broken ground, no longer hollow
Long after everything's reason falls apart, an honest beginning
Awaken the soul and embrace an open heart
Rise from the ashes and wreckage of yesterday

We deceive our true design, employ a false intent, destroy our inner light
to appease what we erect to our sleeping mind a master indirect
We deceive our true design, employ a false intent, destroy our inner light
to appease what we erect to our sleeping mind a master indirect

The present existence, broken and lost through time
A beckoning consummation
The opening eye

Assumption falls apart
Existence spirals out
Perspective expansion
Potential realized right now

We deceive ourselves, abandon ourselves to prostrate the God within
Remember yourself and master yourself to become your own disciple now

"And we were laughing at the stars,
While our feet clung tight to the ground.
So pleased with ourselves,
For using so many verbs and nouns."

felt alive
Take me from the city.
Stand up this is a ****ing ovation.
Stand up! Stand up!
All together we scream-Prelude to a dream-A skylit Drive

Hey baby, do you see me cause I'm staring at you
Hey baby, I want you I want you
Hey baby, do you see me cause I'm staring at you
Hey baby, I want you I want you alive
Come sit next to me
Can you see into my mind?-Eva the Carrier- A Skylit Drive

You know, I've realized that it's important to have a combination of what exactly the lyrics are and how they're sung or screamed or whatever.

"The Last Beat of My Heart"! Great stuff

In the sharp gust of love
My memory stirred
When time wreathed a rose
A garland of shame
Its thorn my only delight
War torn, afraid to speak
We dare to breathe
Majestic
Imperial
A bridge of sighs
Solitude sails
In a wave of forgiveness
On angels' wings

Reach out your hands
Don't turn your back
Don't walk away
How in the world
Can I wish for this?
Never to be torn apart
Close to you
'Til the last beat
Of my heart

At the close of day
The sunset cloaks
These words in shadowplay
Here and now, long and loud
My heart cries out
And the naked bone of an echo says
Don't walk away

Reach out your hands
I'm just a step away
How in the world
Can I wish for this?
Never to be torn apart
Close to you
'Til the last beat
Of my heart

How in the world
Can I wish for this?
Never to be torn apart
'Til the last beat
'Til the last fleeting beat
Of my heart

"You're still doin' things that I gave up years ago." - Lou Reed

Pretty much how I feel about some of the people I used to hang with, strangely I feel like they might be farther along in life.

Here's a few lines that I like a lot.

"I only see rainbows,
now that the bandages are gone,
from my window, there.
From the skyscrapers,
down to the submarines.
Birds and fairies,
sanctuary,
atop the rolling hills of Hell.
His words are sledgehammers
of truth
that pound the iron heart of sin.
Bloody smiling,
vandalizing,
my wet dream is drying up."

"The Air Conditioned Nightmare" - Mr. Bungle

The entire song has really powerful lyrics, but I chose these because of the combination of thought and sound. To me, it paints a vivid picture of American decadence.

"I got no home in this world
Just gravity, luck, and time
I've got no home in this world
Just you, and you are not mine"
