"One day I'll be dead yo yo"

(from "I Wanna Be a Cowboy" by Boys Don't Cry)

Annie's Song is one of my favorite songs and almost any line from it would work as my favorite, so I agree with your choice. It's just that the humorous "yo yo" tips me slightly in favor of "One day I'll be dead yo yo."

Noel Gallagher may be no lyrical genius but he has his moments. This is one of my favourites.

Strangle my hope and make me pray
To a god I've never seen but who I betray
To the people who live the afterlife
And the place I'll never be 'til I'm crucified
(Noel Gallagher) (Lets All Make Believe - Oasis)

As good as that one is, Noely G has done far better lyrics.

Morrissey was a lyrical genius.
Most of his lyrics from The Smiths are simply brilliant.

One one of my favourites:
"Mother I tried please believe me
I'm doing the best that I can
I'm ashamed of the things I've been put through
I'm ashamed of the person I am."
Ian Curtis - Joy Division.

They told me that the classics never go out of style, but they do...they do.
And somehow baby...I never thought that we do too.

Well those are among my favourites. Care to offer some of yours?
And i'm certainly not arguing the Morrissey thing.

Me First post

Not a line, but 2nd and 3rd verse from "God Bless America" - James Mcmurtry

That thing don't run on french fry grease
That thing don't run on love and peace
Takes gasoline to make that thing go
Now bring your hands up nice and slow

Negotiation's just no fun
And it don't serve our interests none
Gonna turn up the heat till it comes to a boil
The’n we’ll go git that A-rab oil

"Now look, you've made a fool out of love
When all we want is to be enough...
When all we want is to feel enough..."
